Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Deborah, Which way are you heading from Swan Hill? We have stayed at Koondrook a few times in the past few years. Lovely little town. Good feed at the pub, or you can go over the river and visit Barham which is much bigger town and has the RSL club etc.
Goodnight all you daylight saving people, it's still only early here in SEQ.
Cheers

Stansbury (Eyre Pen, SA) has been battered with high winds & horizontal rain all day! Closing Girt's door is a battle with the wind. However, it's a nice CP (there are some!) & owner/manager is not only pleasant, but reasonable lady. When asked for a drive-through site, she doesn't have any, but gave us two sites fore & aft for the price of one, plus Seniors' Discount! Said park is not busy this week, and is unlikely to need extra site. Her name is Jenny. Tell her I sent you. ;)
CP is well-equipped with new BBQs, clean good quality cooking equipment in camp kitchen & a well-manicured property. We'll veg here for a few more days before moving on to hoo-noze-where.
Used spiffy oven (almost as good as the new one at home!) in camp kitchen to roast some Saltbush Lamb from Beltana Station with roast veg & gravy for dinner. MMMmmmm...
I can tolerate a lot of this!
Dottie, I think we need to co-ordinate travel plans. You're on the wrong side of the continent for a visit en route home! :D
G'nite all!
Regards & God bless,
Ray

Look over your shoulder and be worried.... be VERY worried!!
Dot's only THAT far behind you Ray!!
I'm thinking if you take a little time, maybe skirt Adelaide & drop by Mannum, by the time we fit in a short trip up the creek Dot WILL be home!!
I'm not sure of her plans though ?

Not sure how far you are planning to travel, Dot, but the donation camp in Alford is good. Nice and level, flushing toilets and dump point. They were asking for $5 donation when we were there earlier this year. About 20km north of Kadina.

There is a water tap at the toilet block too. Nothing else in town apart from the pub and the bowls club. We had a decent meal at the pub to give a bit of support to the town. Kadina is probably the largest town on the Yorke Pen for shopping etc. Stayed at the Yorketown CP for a few nights. Nice little town and the bakery sells clothes (very reasonable prices) and fishing gear!

Der... Got the wrong peninsula!
Stansbury is on the YORKE Peninsula. Visited Minlaton today, had lunch in the Greek cafe. Tasty & good value.
Dottie, we have to be back in Rutherglen by Cup Day (house-sitter has med appts in Melb), so we'd like to catch up before we head home.
Can you PM or email me your route & timetable? Maybe we can catch up before we leave the Yorke... current plan is to stay at Stansbury until Sunday.
We thought of going to the Alford camp, but were short of water. Port Vincent was the plan, but they'd given away the only site we fit on (after we phoned to book it) the day we arrived! Tried to give us a site half the size and around an S-bend. No way we'd even GET to it, let alone fit Girt onto it ( forget Jim & the trailer!)
Then we discovered Stansbury CP! Great, clean, modern place. No drive-through sites, so Mgr gave us two sites fore-&-aft - absolute beachfront - for the price of one, with a Seniors' Discount! We're hooked up to power, water and sullage... happy campers. Don't often rave about CPs, but the 2 couples running this one know their market, and how to keep them happy.
Looking fwd to seeing you & G (and the bus!)...

Bruce,
Hadn't planned on Mannum, but if that's where you are, we'll try to fit in a visit. PM me.
Regards & God bless,
Ray

Thanks for the suggestion David. My roadie took me up into NSW today to Deniliquin. It is a very pretty place too and we got into a caravan park right by the river...bliss. Seems like he can even smell home from here on the border, he gets a bit anxious to go home. I will be slowing him down as much as possible.
Ugly sleep time is here again, so night all.xxx
Deborah
