Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Dot, you are meant to be relaxing, not being so tired.... yes, I do understand. Have a good rest mate. xxx

Today we visited the Labour museum at Barcaldine... betterer than the stockmans hall of fame IMHO. It was full of interesting people's stories and none of it was judgemental or critical. There were a lot of pics of peoples who we both remember, made us feel a bit sort of old-ish. But we enjoyed it anyways. We didn't expect to find it quite as interesting and took several hours to visit. Had a sanger in the van and off up the road to Blackall. Nice little/big town. Bigger than home anyway, has 2 supermarkets not just a servo like we have. Thinking of having a bit of a longer run tomorrow and landing in Charleville for a couple of days.

Well, all this travel is exhausting, so it's good night from me xxx

I loved the Labor museum, sad that some brainless dill poisoned the "tree of knowledge" in the main street, it was looking a little sad when we were last there and that was more than 10 yrs ago so I guess it's dead and gone by now.
You need to stop in at the Augathella road house with the free camp beside it (if it's still there of course) just to watch the locals with their pig dogs and gun racks on the utes pull in for fuel, quite a sight and worth a chuckle at how serious they take the whole event.
Is Charleville the place with the grand hotel with the museum type rooms showing how a formal town dinner was set out? Is that where the secret air force base was as well? Where they tested the bomb site that ultimately won/ended the war as it was used for the 2 atomic bomb drops on Japan, as well as many other pin point bombing raids carried out by the joint forces, that would be extremely interesting to me to have a look through but it might not be everyone's cuppa tea.

Anyway, night all, end of a long day, Rosiebear from the CF came for a quote and I fitted up a DC2DC charger to try and get them through till August when we can actually do the battery conversion. The 4 batteries in there at the moment can't keep up with the CPAP machines over night and the thinking is they are not being properly recharged using the system there at the moment. Peter (Pet-els) is camped up in the yard as well so gotta get into that job tomorrow, so off to dinner and bed for an early start tomorrow.

Terry, Auguthella felt a bit too feral for dragon comfort, so we left town asap. The fancy old hotel in Charleville has just changed hands and doesn't look like tours are happening. The secret ww2 base is around here somewhere and I will be asking some questions at the info centre tomorrow. We are not rushing off just yet, I want to have a look at the bilby centre (ooooohhhh so cute) and another old house that sounds very much like the description of the pub. Will tell you about that later.
Dot, keep on doing the deep breathing, salty air is wonderful isn't it?

Charleville is looking like another night stay is warranted, so I will finally get a sleep in day (oh yay),
so I am off to do some reading and get into a warm bed.
Goodnight everyone xxx

When we were there the bartender was dressed in period costume that fitted in well with the golden age the hotel had flourished in, it was like a trip back to yester-year.... except for the drink prices  We did discover free WiFi close by, no idea who was supplying it, the pub or the council but we only needed a few mins on it anyway to check emails. I would love to get back up that way sometime and check out that secret air base.

The barmaid was in period costume when I was there. At least, that's the excuse she gave!
