Fiddled around in the dark to disconnect two of my solar panels so I can move them tomorrow to get access to put some drains in.
Found out the hard way that stainless bolts threaded into aluminium don't like being removed after a couple of years!
Any suggestions on long lasting lubricant for when I put them back?

There is a copper based grease like never seize that seems the go well with aluminium, but Alminox is designed to stop any of that sort of reaction that causes the metals to weld together. After all, one of the lithium battery electrode blocks is aluminium and we use stainless bolts to hold the copper link plates on and they don't get thread bound.

That willy wagtail is certainly upset that we have disturbed her nest up in the cupboard... still haven't found any eggs or baby birds yet, maybe tomorrow

Checked start batteries yesterday and they were dead as ... should have known better but have been too busy with the swim school. Bought 2 new batteries and fully charged them ready to put in.
While waiting for a chap from Darios Caravan Repairs to come and value the bus, because Ken Tame require a valuation every 2 years for an agreed value, I defrosted the fridge.
There is even a feral cat living under the bus, which has migrated from the storm drain.

Bruce, I thought you never use stainless rivets on ally where they get wet and hold water. (Electrolysis corrosion.)

Try just painting the surfaces to separate them and keep them dry.... Even, a little layer of sika or something between the surfaces.

Yes Jon, you're right! Especially in salty sea environment!
My solar panels are mounted on 'proper' solar panel mounting rails that are all aluminium (feet, blocks & rails) except the stainless bolts that screw into the aluminium blocks.
It was these that decided to grow together.
I finally got them undone with minimal damage and then cleaned out the threads with a new hacksaw blade on 45 degree angle.
Lubricated with alminox so we'll see how that goes for next undoing job.
I think I might wait for sun tanning day & undo the rest to try to save them too.

Well Wayne? How many watts going in this morning? I currently have 512w but slight shadow from bimini frame.

If you want it to be done properly then dont bother, just put in a helicoil or rivnut.
If you want to go lube only then I like the sheep stuff in Lanotec products for both Stainless and Ally.
