Travelling days via m/h are at an end. Car in future. Great while it lasted. We have a great country!T1 Terry wrote:Congratulations Jim, do you plan to buy a replacement or are the travelling days over for now? I guess the lead up to the holiday season is the ideal time to sell an RV at the best price so hopefully it worked that way for you as well.Jim wrote:Sold it!!

Exactly what I installed, sure saved me a lot of priming when I ran out of fuel when going up a quite steep hill.T1 Terry wrote: A great addition is an electric fuel pump at the tank, stops drain back and auto primes the filters, even after the operator error includes running out of fuel..... not that I've ever done that

It certainly is Jim, day trips and accommodation hoping still allows quite a bit of travelling, the more recent idea of having a professional driver move the motorhome from place to place has also greatly expanded the period one can still enjoy their big rig even though they have passed the licence age. As long as the car licence holds out the toad still gets you about with the motorhome as the base.Jim wrote:Travelling days via m/h are at an end. Car in future. Great while it lasted. Forgot to mention that we recently sold our old Coaster. I was a little sad as he was driven away, but now he is off on another adventure. I had to keep telling myself that motorhomes are made to be used, not just parked in the driveway. We are happy with our $ return and the new owner is happy, so win-win.
Cheers

Hi, all.
Drove from Hay to Carcoar Dam.
Fixed up the cabling from the house batteries to the Toad battery thence to the toad. Glad I carry heaps of Anderson plugs
Tomorrow I'm replacing the brake cable on the towing frame.

Annee's cleaning out and repacking the campervan for a trip to the 'Girgarre Moosic Muster' next weekend.
Gotta fit 4 Ukes in there somewhere, the harmonicas won't be a problem.
Me ? I've got to drain and seal the tail lights, they filled with water during the storm on Thursday.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Made a few improvements to the water transfer pump from the rain water tank to the tanks higher on the hill. Thought I'd be clever and put the hose actually in the water on the higher tank to keep the splashing noise to a min. The battery made up out of rubbish cells left over from damaged battery packs turned out to have 2 really rubbish cells so the pump stopped. The brainless system designer didn't think to pull the hose up out of the water so if/when the turned the pump off it wouldn't flow back....... all I pumped and more syphoned back into the rain water tank and out the overflow
Found some not quite as stuffed cells, pulled the hose up close to the top of the tank on the hill and now building a control to turn the pump off is a cell drops its voltage or the solar if a cell goes high voltage..... just like I would if I was building the system for anyone but myself
