Main highways which are used by semis are bad but remember QLD has thousands of ks more to look after as well. Go on the secondary roads which are always smoother and nicer scenery that the highways. Great small towns also.

Try Victoria back roads if you think Qld roads are bad, and it's the smallest state. Even the Hume freeway is turning into a goat track, only roads nearer to Melbourne get any money spent of them.
At a gathering recently we heard the NSW explanation for the first time, Newcastle-Sydney-Wollongong, the rest is some else's problem when it comes to infrastructure spending. You don't realise just how true that is while you live in one of the privileged 3 regions, I'm stating to wonder if Mannum might be a bit the same because the Mid Murray council office is just down the road. It does have it's downsides as well, the area is micro-managed to an alarming degree.

Have been unable to use the computer the last few days due to it going through menopause so the Telstra lady put a new sim thing in and it seems to be ok (for now) That rest area we stopped at Heifer Creek was a lovely spot. One thing I will say is these Qld roads are just disgusting and they should be ashamed. Weather in day is lovely but Oh dear the nights are nipple freezers.
Hi Dot, What is the Heifer Creek RA like, we have only been past there in the car and are yet to stop and spend a bit of time there.
Cheers

David, we enjoyed the Heifer Creek Rest Area, it was a big area has clean loos, shade, quiet, even has a stream to paddle in :D It is located on the Clifton / Gatton Rd (41ks sth of Gatton. In the Camps book 10 the camp number is 732. The road is good and a bit windy here and there with just a couple of steeper hills but we made it easy. Give it a go.

David, Heifer Creek is the only way we go when heading south. Easier pulling than the T'ba Range. An occasional truck but easy to see them approaching.

I agree but everyone should have a good look of the view from the 'cliff top' in Toowoomba at least once .....
(Picnic Point Lookout) etc etc
Tourist Rd, Toowoomba, Qld.

A little OT but I think that the view from the second range crossing will be spectacular. It will be an elevated road from somewhere near Murhpys Creek. You can see the new highway sticking up out of the bush for miles.
