Back to drawing board, anyway I've cleaned all the lines.

If you undo the screw, and turn the gas on, you should be able to test for gas.
If it's on the low pressure side, it should be about 2.75 kpa. (about 0.4 psi)

Pulled gas valve out this arvo and sprayed a heap of electrical cleaner and blew clean.

Ran out of light will try tomorrow.

Refitted all lines this morning and turned gas on.

Allowing for the gas to fill all lines I then loosened the screw on the gas valve, no gas.

So then to the regulator, noticed some flow but no pressure and when I put my finger on it appeared intermittent.

Any gurus have knowledge how the regulator is meant to operate.

Do you have gas to the stove or the cooking burners or to anything else?
Can you try the regulator on your barby or something else?
Getting back to the hot water service....... does it click, click, click when you turn the red switch on at the controls? Are these controls inside ??
I doubt you'll get any gas until you get someone to TRY to turn it on.
It should try several times & then give up if you have no gas.

The regulator(/s) has to be above the gas bottle. The high pressure port needs to be level or lower than the low pressure side. If not, the regulator can fill with LPG fluid and won't work. Plus, any fluid won't drain back into the bottle. The regulator relies on the gas boiling off in the bottle and being gas.

Try, turning off the bottles, and then cracking a hose. If any liquid LPG is in the regulator it may boil off. Beware of sparks, naked flames (not ex-girlfriends) and explosions.

Kappy, In your bottom photo the brass screw covers the Low Pressure test point. With everything connected but turned off, you should see around 2.6 to 2.7 kpa. You will need a manometer ( i think that's the right name), or a very low pressure gauge to check it. .If you don't then your regulator is kaputt and needs to be replaced. When you get it replaced make sure your service technician puts it above or at least level with the highest point in your high pressure line from your gas bottles.
