Old Farts...

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Old Farts...

Post by Chuck »

I never really liked the terminology "Old Farts", but this makes me feel better about it.

And if you ain't one, I bet ya you know one!

I got this from an "Old Fart" friend of mine!

OLD FART PRIDE

I'm passing this on as I did not want to be the only old fart receiving it. Actually, it's not a bad thing to be called, as you will see.

1. Old Farts are easy to spot at sporting events; during the playing of the National Anthem. Old Farts remove their caps and stand at attention and sing without embarrassment. They know the words and believe in them.

2. Old Farts remember World War II, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Normandy, and Hitler. They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War, The Cold War, the Jet Age and the Moon Landing. They remember the 50 plus Peacekeeping Missions from 1945 to 2005, not to mention Vietnam.

3. If you bump into an Old Fart on the sidewalk he will apologize. If you pass an Old Fart on the street, he will nod or tip his cap to a lady. Old Farts trust strangers and are courtly to women.

4. Old Farts hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection.

5. Old Farts get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't like any filth or dirty language on TV or in movies.

6. Old Farts have moral courage and personal integrity. They seldom brag unless it's about their children or grandchildren.

7. It's the Old Farts who know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country.

This country needs Old Farts with their work ethic, sense of responsibility, pride in their country and decent values.

We need them now more than ever.

Thank God for Old Farts!

Pass this on to all the "Old Farts" you know.

I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

I guess I'm not an old fart then, I can't remember any wars before Vietnam and I was a school kid then, but I did learn a lot about them at school and since, but sometimes the story line changes so you aren't sure which is fact and which is propaganda from all sides.
I don't wear a hat but I do stand for the national anthem, either one of them because like it or not, we are still part of the British empire. Should we have a new anthem and flag? The real question is, just how many would hold it in the same reverence? After seeing how America has done with it's presidents over the yrs, would it be any better than system and the self centred mob we have now?

I am a 90% fartess, it still annoys me when men don't take their hats off when inside . I feel like toffing them like my dad did to me :D Today I held a door open for a man helping an elderly lady with a walker out of a building, both he and the lady thanked me no end, Felt good to hear those words, most people say O.

I didn't think I was an OLD fart yet, however maybe I was wrong.

We just spent 10 days in Phuket, and when walking down the main tourist street, the scantily dressed Thai ladies outside the massage parlours, just ignored me, whereas the 20 to 50 year old gents really got harassed to "come in side".

Maybe there are some advantages in being 72+

Sorry Dottie,
On first reading I thought you had written ‘fartless’... and was ready to challenge that statement.

We must be a couple as Bruce took a brand new Akubra off when we went into a subway for lunch a few years ago at Port Augusta- like an old fart he took his hat off & guess what- half way across the Nullabor no hat. No it was not there when we rang.
My pet hate is hats worn at meal table. My son & grandson so it at times to get me to "bite" !
