Breakfast a bit different today decided on toast with cheese, semi dried tomato and hot salami. Grilled it under the sandwich maker and came out great.

The tomato’s were very intense in flavour and glad I only chopped a couple for each piece of toast. Cheers

Looks great, might be a possible adaption for the next Taggerty. I checked out a few recipes on line for the beer braise and I reckon I'm gunna try it with underground mutton. Been looking for an alternate recipe for wild game so when I get a chance I'll try it out on the rocket stove.
Please keep up the great ideas for alternative cook ups, I've forgotten all the ones I did know and kicking myself for not writing them down while my brain still worked properly

Thanks Terry I like to try different cooking when I can. Let me know how the rabbit goes as my daughters F.I.L goes rabbit shooting and normally gives us one. Cheers Robert

Checked the fridge out this morning looking to make a nice breakfast. Found some button mushrooms, homemade bacon pieces, two thin pork sausages and a couple of eggs. Bread near the toaster so I think this will be good.

Cut mushrooms in half, sausages in thirds, stick of butter into the pan and tossed it all in with a solid hit of cracked black pepper.

Put the toast on and warmed up the egg pan. Took less than 10 minutes and happy with the end result.

Tasted great and pleased with the scavenger hunt in the fridge.

My two favourite slap up breakfasts using mushrooms is the big flat mushroom cooked in the frying pan gills down until the caramel look is about 1/3 the way through, at the same time cook up chopped bacon bits in the pan. Flip the mushroom over, place the bacon bits, chopped chives and maybe even a tomato if there is a half in the fridge or one of those smaller ones, then add grated cheese on top, put a lid over the frying pan and let cook till the cheese is melted.
The other one is a big flat mushroom placed on a bread and butter plate, add a chunk of butter into the gill side and bacon bits, cook for a few mins in the air fryer or until the bacon looks softened and the butter well and truly melted, then crack an egg on top, cook again for a few minutes, then grated cheese over that and cook till the cheese is golden brown. Adding your favour sauce before the egg goes in is an option as is slices of avocado on the egg and covered with cheese ..... now I'm starving and can taste the mushroom and avo that I'll have forgotten all about by breakfast tomorrow :lol:

We tidied the chest freezer up on Sunday and I pulled out a couple of small ham hocks and a 500g pack of ham pieces. Decided that I needed to do another bean meal. Had two tins of beans in the cupboard and some onion, celery, carrot, veggie stock and spice and herbs.

Did not use any recipe just went with what I felt was right. Must say it came out excellent with just a slight touch of heat to the tongue and the top of the mouth, very pleasant.

Will write the recipe up in my notes later and if any one is interested I will post it here.

T1,
I developed a mushroom breakfast similar to yours:

One large mushroom cooked the same way, then flipped and sprinkled with chopped (cooked) bacon pieces, chopped garlic, then topped with a generous layer of grated parmesan (or cheddar) & freshly-ground salt & pepper. Occasionally added finely-chopped greenery before the parmesan, depending on what leafy stuff SWMBO had in the fridge.
Microwaved for 45~60 secs, depending on size of mushroom.

Serves one. :D
