Social Distancing Question

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Grow up.

It's more like SHUT UP !

I get a bit tired of hearing and reading the constant dribble about our leaders ( in nearly every organisation ) about HOW BAD THEY ARE and HAVE NO IDEA !

My advise, when I can be bothered ( and I'm a cynical old bloke ) "If you think you can do better put your hand up for the job, until your in charge or on the team SHUT UP !"
Doesn't make many friends :x , but who wants that type of mindless criticism around you anyway

I worked once with a team of dribbling smart a*se whingers ................................... ONCE !
I quit, and then realised I was so glad to be away from that depressing lot I began to feel better about being alive.

Terry, was not in response to that article. There is so much drivel on all sorts of forums/media/social etc about how our leaders are doing such a bad job. Seems to me we are leading the world in infections/deaths low numbers (per capita) which means I am safer here than in other places.

But some people love to pick on an isolated incident and whinge about it without having the mental capacity to look at the bigger picture. Of course I am forgetting their experience in former health/economic pandemics so perhaps I should be chastised for that ? Think not !

As Noggins says, if you cannot offer constructive debate, shut up !

Albo would do well to learn this. He ain't worked out that people can see through the politics of negativity.

When I was at school Menzies came to the school to open a new wing. Bought the leader of the opposition with him. Did his speech and the let the oppo leader have a go. You know what ? Almost all of the oppo's speech was agreement with was the gov was doing, as the attitude was what was good for the country was paramount. If even an opposition leader can put the country first how come mere plebs can sit behind their keyboards taking free kicks, without having the guts to do the hard yards to change things, themselves ?

That is what my comment was about, not some media beat up.

Wow, some people don't take well to being in isolation eh  The wonderful think about free speech is everyone can have a crack at it. The soapbox politicians and preachers on the average Sunday in the city park will have their say no matter which side of politics or religion they lean, everyone is welcome to listen, form their own opinion and make a counter speach if they so desire, or just ignore it or pass it off as rubbish or nonsense. Far too many people get trapped in the Farcebook nonsense and that is a serious problem because it polarised people in one direction or another and then they try to tell others who don't agree with their way of thinking that they don't have the right to express a different view ..... I don't want to live in a civilisation that can't speak its mind, whether I agree with it or not, free speak is a very important right and I don't believe anyone should be silenced because they have an apposing view.
Just my thoughts on the matter, so can we all lighten up a bit :D

Terry,
I don't agree, with the advent of the all mighty PC (or apple if you are that way sexually inclined) it has become way too easy to hide behind the keyboard. You have taken the argument to the city park which is simply not the way things are done in a digital age. I simply ask, if the person doing all this finger pointing, why do you not get in there and do all the hard yards to become one of the people who is responsible to change things ?

That is not free speech in my opinion, it is very much different. If, using your analogy, you are talking about soapboxes in Hyde Park and you come out with a bunch of crap, you are pretty well shouted down by the others listening. If you are hiding behind your router, that is not the case. You do it in isolation, without anyone testing your critique. BIG DIFFERENCE !

In the interest of full disclosure a bit of background to reveal my political bent. I've been a staunch Labor supporter since the days of Gough. It so happens that in this case of battling Covid19 it appears ScoMo is doing a great job. Top marks.

I have to disagree about your Albo comment however. In one of his interviews just before cabinet met to pass one of the incentives into law he stated he wished to be referred to as the Labor leader, not the Opposition Leader. He also stated his party has a few amendments to the proposed new legislation that he promised to bring up in parliament for consideration and debate but then pointed out that Labor would support the new legislation regardless of the outcome of those debates.

How much more non-combative and bi-partisan can you get? I've been watching for more interviews with Scotty From Marketing since then to see if he went along with Albo's idea of not referring to him as the opposition leader. So far, nothing to go on.

People will say things and argue from the safety of the keyboard but would never do it face to face around the campfire, such is the nature of the beast. How many ridiculous articles did you see in the paper before the interweb came along? So nothing has changed, they can just communicated the bias or nonsense faster. As far as anyone testing your critique, what do you call your response post?
The bit that stands out is the last bit in capitals as this is known as shouting on the interweb and rarely will things degrade into a shouting match around a campfire so quickly, especially over such is simple issue.
I understand about rusted on voters who can see no wrong in their side of politics and everything wrong on the other side. Maybe a few steps back and look at what is really being said and look at what your reply is and see if it remains within the friendly discussion frame work.
I'm not into locking threads unless it get really out of hand and I don't think the membership we have here would let themselves get to that level, I'm just hoping my faith in that matter is justified .....

Voted both ways over the years so I don't think I am rusted on

I do however take a bit of exception whenever the gov does something and next minute one of the 3 amigos is in a press conference shouting that is was a labor idea ?

I think the opposition feels a bit irrelevant as most of the country looks at the numbers and thinks "not doing too bad"

Either way it is going to be interesting when either side tries to pay the bill for this mess. Heard on the ABC that someone is trying to sue China for a few trillions. Good luck with that !

Don't think that is going to happen this time. Any uplifts as you mentioned had absolutely no travel impediments afterwards.

Anyone that thinks aviation is going to resemble anything like pre 2020, well "tell them their dreaming "

Without compulsory app download and that applying to incoming as well, it will all just start again, any fool can see that, even those in charge.

I am not holding my breath hoping a boom is gong to lift us out of the pit we are heading for, economically.

Brave new world methinks, nothing like the past as countries become more insular and less reliant on the cause of the problem.
