"tanks" here---George,
All the best wishes for today and I trust that you will end up more handsome after the surgery.
Don't annoy the nurses or upset the surgeon because you don't know what they will do to you while you are 'under the anaesthetic stuff.
Keep an extra dose of Endone in your pocket in case you don't like the results when you recover. As long as you can still smile when you wake up and Julie is happy with the result.
Keith.

I plan to have another birthday next year.

Discharged this morning with jaw etc in more pain than last week. The wound extends behind my ear and is glued not screwed or stitched. Following the surgery I have had an extremely dry mouth , lips and throat and any amount of water, ice or gargling would not reduce it. Apparently they opend my face to be able to reach in and juggle the sections of the displaced fracture into place. A small lump in the bottom of my eye socket can still be felt when I run my finger along it.

During last night I requested something to relieve the dryness and was given a thick liquid jelly like substance to line my mouth and throat. Luckily I removed my upper denture prior to doing so as after the stuff had dried it formed a contact adhesive which stuck my tongue to the roof of my mouth and because I had tried to swallow it completely closed my throat. After filling my mouth with water it returned to the semi liquid state but after drying I pressed my thumb against the roof of my mouth and then had some difficulty removing it and closeing my mouth tended to glue my lips together.

By this time the nurse who had given me the stuff had disappeard and another nurse was left to deal with it and she eventually have me a long handled toothbrush, a bowl of water and a large quantity of toothpaste to brush around my mouth and down my throat and then rinse with water. After performing this procedure 3 or 4 times the glueing effect had gone and the mouth and throat dryness returned. It was now 3am and i requested some Endone and Targin in order to get some sleep.Following discharge I went to a pharmacy and purchased some Biotene Dry Mouth Relief as a spray bottle which seems to be easing the problem.

I hope the above gave you something to laugh at.

George
