As we came through Coonabarabran this morning, the navigator with good ears said 'there's a new noise'. Hmm thinks me. When I used the exhaust brake towards the start of the Pilliga scrub, same noise. Found a rest area to diagnose problem. Finally found that a flange between the exhaust manifold and (I think) the inlet manifold heat exchanger had lost a couple of bolts and was loose. The only way to reach it was from inside the mhome at the rear of the engine. Mr Repco at Narrarbri had some bolts for me, and I bolted it all together on the side of the road.
When we crossed into QLD the police on duty just wanted to see my border pass. 👍 All good . Now we are parked at the Aratula pub because it is too late to make it home.
Cheers

It is on the south side of the road at the last Lake Moogerah turn off. It is before the new BP roadhouse.
There are roadworks all around here at the mo'. It's going to be a lot better when they are all finished.
It is now in Wikicamps as a free camp. Only problem is that it would be noisy on a normal night. But the truck numbers are a bit down on the usual. The highway was the quietest I have seen it for years.
Cheers

Never gave that one a thought doh ! Had my head in the town. After going past many times since we moved to Stanthorpe should have thought of it. Agree there is plenty of road that needs work, especially between there and the bottom of the gap.
