You have my total agreement Shirley. We were meant to be going away with our jayco club this weekend and after all the stuff coming out from Sydney, we decided that the risk would undo the last 4 months of us being totally self sufficient. There seem to be too many eejits running around this country, the horse has bolted. Watch out Qld.

You might think I'm an Old Grumblebum (no comments from the peanut gallery, please!) but under normal circumstances, we'd be about ready to think about considering the possibility of scheduling a discussion on whether we should begin to outline a plan for debating the pros & cons of starting the return journey to Sunny Victoria after a couple or more weeks when we've finished aestivating (look it up! :P ) in the far outback of Queensland.
Instead, we're locked in at home, freezing our vital parts off ... even though we're 300km north of Miserable Melbourne.
(Don't miss Melbourne's winters at all!)

Bloody football, now powered by cubic dollars. Back in the day, when footy was the VFL or whatever the NRL was before it was different. But big business hijacked it for broadcast rights and advertising dollars. Doesn't matter what code you follow, they stuffed it by fiddling with the rules. Same as the border closures, all the big business' putting pressure on to reopen because of the economy. We are all damned if we do and damned if we don't.
We'll all be OK until they allow international travel again.
But footy is good for morale, ...........unless your team is losing. :roll:

It's interesting that most of the cases now are seen within the young and they are the ones who seem to be flaunting the rules, which is the generation of the entitled many who have never grown up and probably never will. This virus may not be stopped until it has destroyed the world's economy and wiped a few people, considering it seems to be mutating and carrying long term health implications.

As long as they allow lots of travel, it wont go away as we are seeing worldwide. Closing borders will only slow it down, in Tas we dont haver it at all and that's becsause we jumpe opn it fast and wiped it out. Now it will be just a matter of when it comes back here with our idiotic government still allwoing people into Tas, when no one should be allowed here until there are no more cases in Aus. As some one else said, that wil be until they start international travel again and it all falls over and starts again.

It's very sad we have those in control who don't have a clue how to create a sustainable economy and one that is not reliant upon international tourism, profit growth and globalisation to survive.

(BTW Jon, it's "people's morale". :) Can't help myself.)
But, I don't own the people's morale. So isnt it peoples morale because they own it? .... there must be a moral to all of this.

Jon,
"People" is a collective noun, therefore singular. The apostrophe goes before the "s".
If you were discussing the morale of "peoples of the world" (ie. many races/populations) then "peoples" is a plural, so it becomes "peoples' morale".
The rule is, if the word ends in 's', the possessive is s' (adding quotes here would just confuse things, so I didn't).
You do not use s's for plurals in such cases. Same with James: the possessive is "James' toys" etc.
The confusion created by the peculiarity of English is that in the case of plurals of words ending in 's', you do add 'es': thus "There were three Jameses in the class." (NOTE: You do not write James's for the plural.)
Compare this with, "There were three Daniels in the class." No problems there, quite straightforward, because "Daniel" doesn't end in "s".
Please note: where you make any word plural you don't add an apostrophe!
Examples of this error are everywhere:
Home Made Hamburger's sold here;
Potatoe's $2.50 a Kg;
Waiter's wanted. Apply within;
etc, etc, etc.
ALL WRONG!!

Clear as mud, ain't it?? :P :D

Bell has rung. Class dismissed. ;)

Don't fret about it. Took me quite a few lessons with individual help from my High School English teacher before I got the message... even though the topic was started in late Primary School.

Ray

Luckily there weren't 3 Daniels in the class. Imagine the mess Victoria would be in.

Had an interesting experience today whilst traveling from Bendigo to Leongatha on the South Gippsland Hwy, I was stopped by Police at a road block at Lang Lang,I was asked where I was going to and told her to home at Leongatha. She was very polite and then said have a safe trip and holiday and said I could leave. I would have thought as I was leaving the hotspot of Melbourne she would have wanted to my drivers licence to validate where home was. There were ten Police members and four defence members at the block. There was also a road block at Heathcote ,good to see some controls in place within Victoria. :)
