One of the truck mobs I worked for would had a Kenworth that would get knocked off for the ring feeded making the overhang excessed the 60% rule but when the dog was attached it sailed through the road side defect campaigns. To get the defect cleared, we would attach the dog trailer from another truck and the RTA would peel the sticker off

Re: Flat towing vehicle
How far back from the hump on the back is the actual chassis? That towbar must be a work of art to find places to secure it to
I'm guess without the drop down on the towbar attached that would be within mm of te 60% overhang rule, but once you put a vehicle on the back that rule seems to get ignored, always a weird one to figure out.

Re: Flat towing vehicle
The tow bar receiver is almost level with the back of the truck, the removable part of the tow bar protudes past the back. The chassis rails (double height) go to the front of the boot (the Hump
). The tow bar has supports back to the chassis in an X configuration. Up until now the only thing I towed was an offroad trailer with a quad in it. I took the Toad for a test tow and it all works very well. I am really impressed with the Invisibrake, I think it wins hands down over any other braking systems I have seen.
Up to Port Hinchinbrook today, over the Cardwell range, now that will see just how Wilbor goes with the extra weight on the back

Back from Port Hinchinbrook, slight cramp in the forehead this morning!! Tow job went really well, no problems pulling up the Cardwell range, back to 3rd but we always get back to 3rd, and the exhaust brake kept it all under control coming back down. Highway speed appeared to be unaffected. A happy little tow’er

Re: Flat towing vehicle
Wilbor has a 3907cc 4cyl with an aftermarket Turbo and a 5 speed box. Not the fastest beast on the road but we are in no hurry to go anywhere these days.
I will post some pics soon

Re: Flat towing vehicle
So 3rd gear in a 5sp box and a 3.9ltr motor is quite good towing the suzi up hill, that puts some more perspective into the efects of A framing V trailer, the Mazda notices the trailer up a hill, and it's only a 6 x 4 box trailer, all though it was fairly well packed
