Morning Bob. Not sure if we are going to Longreach as we’ve been there several times. It depends on the condition of the road from Aramac to Torrens Creek. It looks to be sealed till the last 40kms. Will check in Aramac.

Solar and batteries are going great Vik. Unfortunately the diesel heater is not working today so Erich is crawling around trying to work out the problem.

Lesley & Erich on the road again.
We spent one night at the free camp on the river at Tambo. Had a walk along the river then called in at the bird hide at the dam. Not much water but still some bird life around.

Moved on to Blackall and crossed paths again with a couple from home. As we had done the touristy thing there years ago we only stayed one night before striking out west to Yaraka.
Camped at the area near the pub. $5 per night with power and water, showers and toilets. What a bargain! Stay includes a sunset tour to Mt Slocomb for a donation to the RFDS. Very friendly and informative and good food as well.
One of the locals welcomed us.

Waiting for sunset on Mt Slocomb.

Down goes the sun.

We had preordered dinner before we left and it was served shortly after we arrived back. The pub was hopping with lots of locals from the surrounding district and just 4 of us from the camp ground.

And it’s all bitumen from Blackall Shirley. So no excuse not to visit. Tomorrow we are doing a tour in a 4WD buggy to Castle Rock, not cheap but Erich will have lots of photo opportunities for 3 hours.
