Spec Savers
Bruce collected his 3rd script from Spec Savers last week, multi focal graduated lenses & still can't read with them, rang today & can't have an app., till next Monday, I told them that was not good enough, this all started back on the 3rd of March when he went to get new glasses, even asked whether he had worn those type of lenses before, Bruce has worn graduated lenses since they first were available about 40 yrs, anyway told we can have a refund we are going to get same tomorrow, will be interesting if they honour the refund $980.

Re: Spec Savers
Have heard a few similar stories lately, Good luck tomorrow but I don't think they will try any shifty stuff.

Re: Spec Savers
Shirley, is it the actual person doing the testing or the ones making up the scripts?
Which branch are you having the issue with? I am so fed up with my current optician I was thinking of going to the Morisset branch, but you may have changed my mind.
Hope you get that refund asap, but then like me, you will have to find somewhere to get another script made. Good luck with that one.

Re: Spec Savers
My 1st pair of glasses were supplied by Specsavers (multifocal) and when it came time for review they supplied the next pair. I kept the originals, still have them, and found my vision to be better with them than with the new ones. Specsavers retested and found that the new ones were too powerful so replaced them. Unfortunately, my fall from the MH put paid to the replacements and I am in the process of testing and purchasing another pair. In the interim I am using the original pair without a problem. Choosing suitable frames is another story.

If you have the prescription, try Zenni.com
You load up a picture and click though all the frames. Then, add your prescription details and order. I think a lot of the shops do the same sort of thing. Order the ground lenses from overseas.

Re: Spec Savers
Update, not a problem receiving refund from Spec Savers, Lake Haven, were told sometimes the script doesn't suit the lenses, they had 3 goes at testing Bruce's eyes & getting it correct, the young lady couldn't have been more obliging, excellent result.
Deborah we have 2 local optometrists who are independent, Ron McQuarrie, Budgewoi, 30 yrs experience he uses only Zeiss lenses & Wand Optometrists, Sean & Robyn Wand both optometrists with 30 yrs experience, they use Essilor lenses, both their web sites read good, so thinking we will try one of them, hopefully they will spend more time getting the script correct.

Re: Spec Savers
A few years ago we had a young couple house sitting and they had a franchise for one of those type of eye places- can't remember which one. Anyway we got talking about all of those compared with private optometrists. He was so fed up with being told what he had to in the franchise he was connected to in Adelaide, they gave the game away. We had a lot of trouble with OPSM when we first left Bundaberg, we found a private one and the care etc is so much better. Friends of ours go to Costo for eyes and hearing aids and have so much trouble. Yes they do have optometrists as well as audiologists.

Re: Spec Savers
Yes Dot good outcome but 5 mths of inconvenience & Bruce still needs new glasses.
Kay I think the franchises work on a time basis, x amount of time for an eye test where as independent optometrists are prepared to spend the time to get the script correct to protect their name & make sure glasses are 100%. I'm sure they are a little more expensive, guess the old saying that you get what you pay for, time will tell, stay tuned.
