Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Finished installing the inverter in the van and gave it a test run for a few hours.
With a long quick run coming up I contacted Marks Mobile Caravan Servicing to check the brakes, bearings, rotate wheels, check suspension and other bits in his service. Glad I did as there was a bit of trouble with The left hand brake. Pleasant bloke and easy to talk to, very professional with his work.
Can highly recommend if any one needs their van check and can not do it themselves. Call 0408 083 946.
Cheers Robert

Vic,
I reckon I saw your Hino in a front yard of a workshop a few weeks ago (on east side of town, left heading east - can't remember which town.) when we were headed down to Mallacoota.
Good to see it registered; pretty good feeling, isn't it.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
That would be right Jon ....it was at Livingstones Truck Centre in Bairnsdale for a couple of months getting roadworthy etc done.
Has been a real saga....All I can say is the NSW inspection system is useless other than providing income for certain testers....
But thanks to Neal Livingstone who went the extra mile or two for us .....it is done .
Can not use it very much at the moment .One of the first jobs is installing a diesel heater .....we have one in the Mitsubishi canter...... marvellous device ......Canter is for sale now ....
cheers Vic

As a matter of interest it has National Heavy Vehicle number plates ...which by the way are cheaper than standard Victorian plates ....

Yes Bruce.
Little 4.5 t run-abouts have the new plates..... probably good for people who have car licenses to prompt them not to drive,

Try going from Vic to NSW, same problem, just like going from Qld to either of the other mentioned states, each have their own method of money spinning when rego is involved.VicA wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 5:10 pm That would be right Jon ....it was at Livingstones Truck Centre in Bairnsdale for a couple of months getting roadworthy etc done.

When I bought the Ford Cargo in Victoria, even though it was registered I could not get it transferred to my name or even another Victorian resident unless it had been through one of their crazy inspections that involved stripping the brakes down to inspect them as part of it, a brake test on the rollers wasn't good enough for them

So I bought a vehicle transfer certificate for 3 days and drove it back to NSW without plates. Then ran into a log jam with trying to find someone with the time to do a rego inspection in NSW, so another transfer certificate to drive it to SA, but loaded it up because it was all private personal freight so the rules did not apply

Ran into the same crap over here, even though the website says they just need an identity check at the local Police station ,,,, so bought another transfer certificate from SA Service to go back to Lake Illawarra .... they are much tougher with their restrictions, need a route you will follow and times you will stop for a rest break and each location you will be stopping at ........
Back in NSW, booked it in for the rego inspection that was supposed to take a few days, 2 weeks later. still no further advanced, so bought another transfer certificate, this time for the taxi Prius, and drove that back over here via back country Vic so I could drop my daughter to a friends place on the way.
Used that vehicle transfer certificate and a SAPOL identity check for engine and chassis number check, went to a country SA Services office, give me money please and here are your plates

Finally got the Ford Cargo passed on the condition I got it out of the state within a week so the MRT (or what ever letter combination they use now) couldn't drag it in over the pit and knit pick his inspection and take his inspection certificate.
Back to SA, off to the same country SA Service office, give us money, give us the NSW plates and we organise the refunds, thankyou very much for giving $$ to the SA govt and have a nice day.
So, not all states are hard to get along with, you just need to avoid the city or close to the city rego offices, and life can become much easier when moving between states

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Apparently there is a HV inspection station in Mt Barker.
My engineer suggested I go up there instead of Regency.
Hasn't told me where exactly yet, but said he would assist to book me in when we're ready.
Hoping to get it registered again in a month or two - depending how long it takes me to finish it off.
Been putting off the wiring for a while, just a bunch of old dried out spaghetti

Just finished the seats and towbar mods he wanted...

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Looks good, I thought the inspection station was in Murray Bridge, but they might have moved it or added another one, who knows?
I'd leave the tow hitch off when going for the inspection, just in case it exceeds the total overhang because they include that as part of the body
They included the mirror in the total vehicle width a number of yrs back until a major transport mob refused to deliver in the state unless they sorted the problem ......
