Since leaving Lara Wetlands, we’ve travelled quite a few kms. Our next stop was Muttaburra at the council owned Caravan Park. $15 per night for two nights then you can stay an additional 3 nights free. This includes power, water, showers, loos and dump point. There are about 16 sites and it was full every night we were there.

There are a couple of free camps close to town and also a number of camping spots along the Broadwater, a water course that is part of the Thomson River system. We drove out there for a look and found a number of good spots if one was a fisher person.
There are lots of sculptures dotted around town which we explored armed with a map from the visitor centre. The Muttaburrasaurus centre was a fascinating building constructed entirely of rocks stacked within wire cages.
Every Thursday evening during the tourist season, the community puts on a camp fire cookup which the campers are encouraged to participate in. This happened to coincide with my birthday and we had a great evening with the locals and some of our fellow CP campers.
From Muttaburra, we drove back to Aramac and then north to Lake Dunn where we camped for the princely sum of $10 per night right beside the water. Power and water is available for $15per night and there are shower, toilets and a dump point plus a water fill for those who need to top up. Fees are collected by 92 year old Marge, who buzzes around on her golf cart each afternoon.
From this base we travelled the sculpture trail in the Suzi, approximately 150kms of gravel and 67km bitumen back to the lake. We did manage to get a flat tyre on the Suzi but all was well in the end. There are around 40 different sculptures on the trail so I will just post a couple of photos to whet your appetite.

Sorry, difficult to limit my favourites.
Leaving Lake Dunn, we headed back to Aramac and down to Barcaldine where we got a new tyre for the Suzi, filled a gas bottle, stocked up with a few groceries and wine and enjoyed a pulled pork burger for lunch. Onwards to Redbank Park in Jericho which was rather packed but we found a level spot that suited and spent a quiet night.
Next stop Emerald.
