Dot, it isn't too hard to grab a pair of thinning scissors and do the dyke cut yourself. SInce covid struck, I have been doing my own cuts and I think they are pretty close to what the scaredresser does. But then again, nobody is seeing what we really look like either. Enjoy the drive xxxx
Thanks for enlightening me Ray. But, we had it for lunch today, so it's now a lunch bread?
This morning we had a couple of visitors, just waking up on the jetty.
Then I took out the latest drop vase from the kiln. Much happier with it. Photo shows the original as well so you can see the improved thinness of the vase part, the newer one is about an inch taller and it is tapering nicely. I let it sit in the kiln for a lot longer than the first one. Much happier with that set up now.
After a good day in the lair, I am off to thaw out

Deb,
Vase Mk2 looks sensational!
Great work. It always takes a bit of fiddling & fine tuning when you try a new idea.
Re the Tea Cake. It's still Tea Cake at lunchtime.
Just like Christmas Pud is still Christmas Pud when you're having it as leftovers on Australia Day.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, you frozen down there yet? xxxx
Thanks Ray, I am much happier with vase mk2, so have decided to return mark 1 for another go at the kiln. Now that I am sure I can raise the height of the holey mold, I should be able to get a taller mark1 as well. If not, it will break off in the kiln and become scrap. All a learning event here.
Finally the super strong westerly winds have started to ease and this afternoon was a nice sunny one. While the kiln fired up a flat bit, I became domesticated and did some weeding in the front yard and cooked up a yummo pork roast with crackling and all the vegs.
Goodnight from Icelandic NSW xxx

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Bloody freezing to be sure to be sure, hoping for the promised sun the next few days. Took Brian to the vet this arvo , he was doing a snuffle in my ear so had to make sure his old condition wasn't appearing again so vet said he was pretty good but has given him a dose of antibiotics. Back to Mt Barker tomorrow as G has dental appointment and are picking up an old hills clothes line to make a new cage for Pete (the corella) . Deborah your suggestion re the hair scissors sounds a good idea so when we are allowed to bust out I will be the hairdresser
I love that vase you did so keep them coming.
Bed time so goodnight everyone x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
What a beautiful day it has been and some more to come.
Even went for an extended drive around the woodside area where the bush fires went through, black trees and replaced fences (blazeaid) but the grass is long lush and green. very pretty indeed. Have not seen the cats from the back for a few days now so am wondering what the woman has done
Mr G has got the majority of the diesel heater installation done just has to get the outlet holes sorted etc. Off to bed now so goodnight everyone x
Goodnight Robert not Bob x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, how do you keep the corella warm? It's not too difficult to keep pussy warm, but a caged bird must be challenging at times xxxx
As you said Ray, it takes some fiddling and fine tuning to perfect a new style. So vase mark 1 has been raised onto a higher platform in the kiln and we will see if it works as planned or not.
It gets the warm treatment tomorrow.
I fiddled around in the shed for a while, but it was just another freezing day here. It started with zero temp and did rise a little with the sunshine, but soon got chilly again. So I settled in to do some of the boring administrivia that has to be done.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
What a ripper of a day, sun shining and warm.
Deborah our little corella has a big cage with insulated roof wooden shutters and is also able to be moved depending on the weather (cage has wheels) In the really hot nasty days we have a demisting fan for her and the 3 galahs , they also have their roof insulated
George has just about finished the heater insulation until he cut some pipe so now has to replace that
Off to the shower so Goodnight everyone x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, you look after those birds better than you look after yourself. Keep that pussy warm xxxx
Had a quiet lair day planned. The red vase mark 1 has been re-fired today, so results will be known tomorrow.
We had a druggie wandering the streets today, chatting aggressively to himself and waving a big kitchen knife around. Total of 5 cop cars and 2 ambos came to collect him. What a waste of police and ambos services. Anyway he is off to Wyong hospital to dry out. I reckon he will be back, but it is a sad way for him to be living.
So that was the excitement that will be talked about for the next year. Nothing constructive will/can be done for the person until he wants help, but it seems such a waste of life.
Twas 1 degree here this morning, so it's getting warmer by a degree.
