Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Re: Lake Elphinstone Qld
Had a similar experience at Lake Albacutya (Little Desert, Vic) some years ago.
Friends living nearby told of losing the bronze propeller from their speedboat 30 years before.
When we visited, there was a set of wheel tracks from where one shoreline should have been to the notional shoreline on the other side.
The lakebed needed mowing.

Last there in 2008. Do they still have the donkey boilers there for the showers? I remember them as I think it was the first time I seen such things

No Not now Cuppa. In a previous photo you will see a green shed (no not Bunnings
) It belongs to a boat club mm???
Beside the building is a now nonfunctional shower block. A new shower/toilet block was built to the right of the entrance to the camping area. Depends who you talk to or what you believe but they had brought solar panels for the block to heat the water but were stolen ???? Some of the regulars, old timers say the silt has built up considerably over the years.

That's a shame Wayne, I recollect that the donkey boilers worked very well. As for folk pinching the solar panels - disgusting but predictable unfortunately.
I also recollect that we spent a night camped at a historic site not far from Lake Elphinstone. IIRC the lake is south of the road,& the historic site was north of the road & a few kilometres east. ............ Aha, when the memory fails me it's so good to have the old blog to fall back on. Historic site was the old ghost town of Mount Britton.
Here's a link to that blog entry - includes a few pics of Lake Elphinstone as it was then, including the donkey boilers & Mount Britton. August 2008.

Gee it warmed the cockles of my heart to re-acquaint myself with 'Nonny' in her original livery of faded blue & white. She did look far better after a full re-spray, but the daggy exterior always made us feel we might be less of a target to would-be thieving scumbags.
