Umm...
That’s the point of an explanation Steve!
Humour me, or the forumites who have not got it will be grumbling “Bluddy elitist mongrels!” ... or worse!

Non hyphenated does not have a hyphen! Is it alright to use the exclamation mark?

Off-centre a bit, Steve...
The "hyphenated" word doesn't have a hyphen.
The "non-hyphenated" word does have a hyphen!
:D

And exclamation points are acceptable at any time...

I've just brushed up on my compound adjectives, Ray. It seems to be a never-ending argument as to whether a hyphen should used be in certain circumstances, such as if neverending, never ending, and never-ending walked into a bar. One that confuses me is coworker, often seen in print. When I first saw it my brain was struggling to come to terms with what a cow orker might be, since I assumed it to be an editing mistake. A co-worker explained it to me.

I invoke Rule 6!
(See Board Index if you’re confused. 😜)

ps. A “cow orker” is a bovine resident of the Orkney Islands.
