Today's sport

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

No Holden racing team next yr, GM have abandoned Australia because it doesn't make financial sense. I see the V8 Supercar brand going down the same drain as the original Bathurst 500 concept because the "win on Sunday sell on Monday" just doesn't apply any more.
Maybe a new concept where a few of the original concepts return but capacity limits and actual road cars are involved. Allow the turbo cars again, hybrid and pure electric to each run in their relative classes with a limited number per class.
The lead up races could be for each class to determine who was "King of the mountain" etc to get the field for that class with grid position based on the actual individual car's best lap shoot out style.
Remember when the Mini Cooper ruled the mountain? The Cortina's, 6 cyl Torana's ..... Those were great races too, they don't need multi million dollar purpose build race cars with super high tech V8 engines to attract a crowd, they just need to make it a competition the fans can relate to if they want the crowds to follow the racing with the passion of old ......

Just trying to picture a Prius at full squirt doing laps around Bathurst ... just can't seem to get it into focus

What, around Bathurst? Not sure the drivers thought they were the good old days  Wasn't it one of those monstrous yank tanks that couldn't stop at the end of conrod straight and ran over a smaller car like a Corolla or something?

I was running a nearly empty fuel tank. Coasted (Coastered?) down Conrod Straight. Didn’t plant the foot again until the Hump.
I’m not silly. 😜

Although I did rearrange the crockery cupboard around The Chase...

I thought that our Winny was going to finish up lying on its side in the sand at the Chase when we did our lap. Was only going slow, but shouldn't have been trying to take photos while driving.

My M-i-L had an apron which had a butch-looking lady in bowling whites on it, with a bowl in her hand.
Underneath it said, “If your aunty had bowls, she’d be your uncle.”

Funny thing about my lap record...
Years later we went back in our 9t Winnie Explorer, and did the lap in 8m 59.0s.
I guess that’s the difference between 4.5t being pushed by a 3.5l (?) diesel four and 9t with a 6.5l turbo diesel V8...
😀

Brockie had nothing to fear from us.
