Sign of the times?

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

I saw something similar on FB recently. It went on to say that years ago you would look up an encyclopedia and do relevant research at the library. Now you just Google, or whatever your choice of search engine is, it. I prefer to read a book rather than try to read stuff on my phone.

The punch line was "Kids already know everything" I had a full set of the Colliers Encyclopaedia with yr books and it was interesting o read back on what happened in that yr and their predictions for the future. Some of the predictions were way off or still haven't happened, others happened yrs before they predicted.
Wish I still had them but my sister took them and the nephews destroyed them unfortunately.

Another possible candidate for "sign of the times"?

We had Arthur Mee's Children's Encyclopaedia.
As a lad I spent hours reading from Vol 1 P1 to Vol 12 P650 (or whatever the last page number was). Fascinating stuff in every volume.
Unfortunately a combination of meeces & water damage put paid to them over the years after I left home.
Encountered a set at a Book Fair, but it was missing Vol 11. Not a goer.
Still looking...
