The disadvantage of having a wife 20 years younger and with a well paid position. No pension or health care card for me despite having passed pension age almost ten years ago.

If you can't get the age pension, you may be able to get the Seniors Card.
This will/may get you the concessions that go with the Centrelink card.
Worth a try.

As far as the seniors health care card .... I didn't realise that you can apply for it at 60 yrs old, so I missed out on the discounts for 5 yrs

I only discovered when I was 64 that I was able to get one. Which I duly did. The Qld gubment sent me another for my 65th birthday last year. Dont think Centrelink will be sending me anything.
