We had the sound of rain on our roof on Friday night...
Sounded like the Charge of the Light Brigade up there!
Woke Saturday morning to a new swimming pool in the garage and a carport with enough topsoil on it to plough & plant!
Couldn’t do any cleaning until everything dried out, so today is clean-up day.
The mud left on the back path (width of the double garage) filled a 10 litre bucket. The water flowing off the rear yard was deep enough to flow over the 2.5” step and under the pedestrian door.
Gravel drive has some new motocross gullies in it, and grass alongside has been newly gravel-paved. Should be interesting mowing it...

evening all, looks like you had a good downpour Ray. Back to winter today brrr. Decided to try some of Gmans take away Chinese curried chicken vegs etc, was doing ok until it got stuck in my throat and it would not budge, funny noises got his attention and came quickly with a glass of water, that shifted it so it back to the good ol custard. Watched the boys on bikes, not too bad but not the same as the big tours, then holy moly the trump downfall Gman figured out the sequence of the auto windscreen demister I drive he looks up what this or that is then gives me directions, that's how we are finding out what does what with the car. Has it occurred to you that it might be a good idea to RTFM cover to cover (or at least the basics) and find all the dashboard controls & lights before you get rolling??

I've never seen it expressed like that before Ray. But I reckon that she will figure it out. Just woke up to heavy rain falling here. We are going home tomorrow sometime.

Ray, it would take a minimum of a month to RTFM for most of these newer cars. Worst is that there is nothing to read. Much of it is in weird diagrams that make as much sense as trying to drive a frying pan on the roads. Mostly things on the dashboard have been trial and error for us as the manual is totally useless.

Today's excitement on the lake? We had a couple of jetskis hooning in the bay and as we were watching their dangerous antics, they crashed into each other with a resounding bang. Both riders were thrown into the (shark infested) water. They seemed ok and rode their jetskis back to land. Only one returned to hoon around the bay for another hour, so we are assuming the other rider is either not well or his craft is damaged. Another mystery for us.The way this fool was riding around the bay was intimidating to other boat users, so much that the bay was all but deserted while he was clowning around. Not at all impressed with that particular rider as we have many of these craft use the bay regularly and they seem to be more thoughtful about the way ride and share the area with other people.

IGA have Pauls Double Thick custard on special for $3.50 a tub; at lease that is the price at Dysart I.G.A.
I purchased 4 tubs with expiry date of 05th March, so the desserts for the next few weeks will be sliced tin peaches and half pears for variety. That covers my sweets for the next month, and after that it is back to sucking on the condensed milk can for a quick fix.

Ray nearly all the controls for things on the car are on the stalks where the wiper and indicators are but more so on the steering wheel. The other day when it was pelting down rain I needed the front demister but it wasn't demisting as it had so George got the book out and checked turns out the combination had been changed so with his instructions it was fixed from the steering wheel, didn't have to look away just by feel As David said mostly all stuff is by pictures now and no one could ever take it all in in a few days. No one... Tanks I have tried all the pre made custards and I cant compare to the home made from Foster Clarke's powder. Time for bed so Goodnight every one x Goodnight Shirley x

Maybe Suzuki had someone like me rewrite their manuals so they make sense to new owners.
At one time in my long & varied career, I was rewriting German, Italian & Japanese manufacturers’ manuals for heavy mining machines so their “English” made sense.
I even had to rewrite an American manual once — it was obviously written by someone who fully understood the workings, but had no idea how to communicate the information!
Sometimes I had to eyeball the machine & fiddle with controls before I understood what the original author was saying, but that was rare. (But fun! Charging around a paddock in a $2m 20t excavator & a $1.5m 5t borer! )
I found the Baleno’s manual easy to take in over a one hour read.
Maybe my past work makes it easier...

Ray you could rewrite the manuals for both our rav 4 and our patrol. They are both so weird that the tension in our vehicles at times has been quite thick. As soon as we have a light bulb moment, it seems so simple, but if only the weird little pictures actually looked like things in our cars. Or the actual manuals could be written for just one model of the car instead of swathes of pages for several different scenarios depending which version of the car you are driving. PITA if you ask me.

Today was a painful physio day, so not a lot happening here. I am strapped up and using ice packs...not happy either.
