Re: Blackout
Why not just shut the house fridge up and go camping in the bus.?

Re: Blackout
Wayne,
You’ll need an electrician to rewire the house to plug the m/h into it.
Genny would be preferable to using your inverter... last longer.
T1 would be a better source than I, but I did run the idea past our electrician. Problem: $$$

Re: Blackout
I see nothing wrong with it Wayne. Run an extension inside the house from a power point in the motorhome to plug your TV or fridge into.
Several years ago Adelaide AFL team was in the finals & we had a town wide power blackout in Kingston SE.
The crew had to travel over from Naracoorte to find & fix. Obviously the game would be over before power restored.
We plugged in the TV to the MH & had several neighbours sitting around watching the game.
Only problem was we forgot to charge admission fee!!!
I believe Ballarat Bill does it all the time?

Re: Blackout
When we first bought our house by the river, there was a mix up about the power being cut off and when it was reconnected ...... and that was Bathurst week end
The motorhome in the front your, a quick bit of rewiring and the house ran off the solar and batteries ... with careful selection of just what was turned on at any one time ...... Did that until the overcast weather flattened the lithium batteries, then we borrowed a generator from Wendy and Bruce and powered a few things in the house while the lithium batteries recharged ......
So, Bruce's suggestion, extension lead and plug in what you need to run, but I though you said you'd removed all the solar from the bus .... so how will you recharge the battery?

We have done this recently when we were advised our house power could be off for 4 hours. Plugged the extension lead into the MHs outlet and then into the house fridge lead. Absolutely no issue.

Re: Blackout
Or you could do what most people do for a scheduled maintenance outage. Just keep the fridge and freezer door closed while the power is off. Nothing will go off. Cook on the BBQ.
It's a bit different to what some people in Vic have had to put up with recently. Some haven't had power for three or four days. That's when a back up genset or an off grid setup comes into their own.
