Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Deborah, did the 2 op shops in the next town over and G got some wheels for his trolley or something and I had a look at the vases and necklaces wondering if you were still doing some upgrading? We were gone for 3 hrs and when we got back to the bus I was knackered so I have spent all evening on the bed snoozing and watching a bit of TV. Now time for a shower and bed so goodnight everyone x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, I have been banned from making the upcycled stuff until we can actually get out and sell some of it. The way I have been displaying each one on a seperate bit of cardboard is quite time and space consuming. I don't think I will keep doing this recycled jewellery for a long time and not even considering working on vases. Too much can go wrong with the scientific stuff. Op-shopping can be quite tiring , se enjoy your well earnt rest. xxxx
The wind was really horrible today, but I needed shed time anyway. I pulled out the winebottle cheese board, very happy with it. The next job was to fit the broken vase into the kiln. It had a base that was about 2 inches thick. The top was very fine and that's where the big crack was. I couldn't smash the base with my hammer, It just left tiny dints, so I scratched across it with a glass cutter and then banged the hammer on the cut spots. Luckily, it broke following the lines that I cut and its now having a very long, very hot firing. Tomorrow will tell if it's the right firing schedule or not. Hopefully it will work, maybe good, maybe not. After it forms a flat rectangle, it will become a platter, but it has to spread out evenly and become one nice regular piece first.
It's cold enough to need that warm bed tonight, so night all xxx

Dot, falling asleep watching some sport again? xxxx
Had a busy day in my shed. The smashed up vase looks lovely, but as I opened the kiln door, I could hear the things cracking. I touched the shelf and it was really hot. I figure that the cracking is because the shelf was much hotter than the air around it, so it was thermal shock. After raising the shelf with some supports, it is getting another warming tonight. I wont be opening the kiln in the morning either. It's not a rush job, so it will probably get a very slow awakening tomorrow.
While in my shed I made a few bits n pieces for another firing, so it looks like I have enough to keep me busy this week.
Currently, we are hearing of way too many people in our area with covid, so we are staying extra careful and not venturing out at all. I am concerned that this is not improving and may get worse before it gets any better. I may have to make plans for another stuck at home Christmas, but we are staying safe. Not much of a life, but we are still ok-ish.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Still enjoying the solitude of that bus Dot? xxxx
Not much happening here, the biggest excitement was our groceries were delivered on time. The order was almost all correct, I just don't seem to be able to get the concept of an unsliced loaf of bread. I know we are different, but I hate thin sliced bread. A nice treat for me is to toast a lovely thick piece of bread and really get the flavour of the bread. I don't know how hard it is to ask the bakery to save our bread for delivery before they slice the bloody lot, but it is starting to really annoy me.
Kiln stopped halfway last night, so it had to be warmed up again today to anneal the glass and to cool down very slowly. It has done the firing and is now cooling down without anyone to open it, should be fine for the next steps tomorrow.Fingers and toes are crossed.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
How right you were Deborah, yep I was all snuggled up in bed with my pussy tucked under my arm and it just so happened that we both dozed off
It was good to get away even if only for a few days. Came home this arvo and guess what we found? 2 bloody eggs, Norman must have jumped his daughter/wife as soon as we were out the gate. Anyway they were quickly disposed of. My niece and family are calling in this Sunday on their way back home to Victoria after camping for the past 5 mths. Keep that kiln warm Deborah much better than going out. Was listening to the news today, story was about women and kids of domestic violence needing housing, then the story of the Afghanistan people were now out of the medi hotel, so it makes me wonder where are they going to go?? Heading to Mt Barker tomorrow 1/ Haircuts 2/ George sees hand surgeon re the ganglion 3/ back home for Chiro appointment. Today I ate a potato cake with some difficulty. Off to bed now so Goodnight everyone x
Goodnight Bernie Q x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Ray I have no idea on taste of anything
About to head off for G's Dr appointment and bugger me the thing had disappeared anyway too late to cancel so off we went told the nice man there was good news and more good news. He asked to look at G's hand that's when we told him the lump had gone and the other good news was we were now going home
He laughed so loud it was funny to watch. Anyway we then had a discussion about my super hand surgeon whom this fella trained under and to top it off no fee was charged and we then headed for our haircuts and also booked the next 2 appointments as they are so busy due to the unreal growth of the area. Popped into the sally army looking for a book and noticed a horse brass's, they were priced at $110 and another at $130. they were in the ordinary bric a brac stuff and at their prices you would of thought those things would of been behind the counter or in a cabinet, how greedy is that? Time for bed so goodnight everyone x
Goodnight HTFFBO x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, you are getting all the excitement. xxxx
Here, in lock down hell, we are doing ok. Our pizza shop (in our small town) has just notified us all that she has had a customer call in, who has the virus. Looks like we wont be getting pizza delivered anytime soon. She has to shut for 2 weeks etc, so it is really scary here now. We have decided that the only reason to leave home may be for dental work, but certainly not shopping. Internet shopping is all we will be doing, even if we have to take crappy super thinly sliced bread, at least we aren't sick.
I found a lovely blanket for sale in the Noni B ads that haunt my computer. It really took my eye, but the ad had no mention of the size of the blanket . Yesterday I rang the number in the ad. I had a bit of a laugh with the young Asian sounding man. He really was trying to do his best, but the only help that he was able to give, was to look up the same ad that I had been looking at. He agreed that the size is a mystery, so he would get the information sent to me by the third party company who are selling it. No email, as yet. I did a bit of googling to see if I could find the info for myself. Not a problem, it is the right size and if I buy from another company the price is suddenly $20 cheaper. No brainer, I have ordered it with ozsale instead.
Kiln is still firing the busted up vase. It was split in half this morning. So it is getting one last long, slow firing to survive or be thrown in the bin. This is why I don't do foreign glass things. Tomorrow may be it's last day in my nice warm kiln.

I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Hi Deb another good site for no knead bread https://snk.com.au/ just use the recipes and commercial products available from your online shop.
Did my first one yesterday viewtopic.php?f=44&p=124568#p124568 and will be using the camp oven to morrow.
Does not take long and taste great even when not perfect. Cheers Robert
