Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Almost snow in SA? That would be different. Stay warm Dot and drive that bus carefully in the rain :) xxxx

This morning was much nicer surprise. Both pieces are now salvegable, but with a fair bit of extra trimming before they can get bent into bowls. As promised, this is what the kiln set up looked like last night.

Worked a treat. No paper fell down on the top of the glass and the slices of tiles etc stayed right where I put them.

In the kiln tonight are scrap plate number 3 and scrap coral bowl.

There are still scraps left on my bench ggrrrr.
That east coast low that is meant to come, has finally started with a little bit of rain. Nothing like the terrors that were predicted.

sleep well xxx

Deborah I think you are getting better with age, very interesting indeed. Sooooo cold today so it was an inside day with air con on. Last night I fired a message off to Beyond bank via their fb messenger, this morning I had a reply (faster than the phone) Told them that I wanted a ph call from the appropriate person within 1 hr, and within the hr a ph call, and all was fixed up. Sometimes fb is very helpful. :D I'm off to a hot bath so goodnight everyone :D x Goodnight Noggins x :D

Hi Dot glad you sorted it out in your usual diplomatic manner. Landscaper laid the road base today and will start laying the pavers next week.

Thanks for the praise Dot. I don't think I am getting better, just spending more time on each piece because there is no rush to have stuff finished. The try it on f**kbook has proven to be a really good way to get attention of companies that think they are doing a good enough job (of course they are not doing well at all if you have to resort to using that media). xxxx

Much of my shed time was spent trimming up messy edges, but trying to leave them organic enough to still look like hand made. There is a fine line between perfection and organic. Because it was a firing to bend stuff, it took a lot shorter time and is already turned off to cool. So that is going to be interesting. The coral bowl will look right, but the platter that is in there may need longer. It's just easier to cook it some more, yet impossible to undo if it's overdone. Bit like cooking a steak

Took the bus for the new alternator to be fitted. an hr later the guy rings and said he thought the one that was sent was not "heavy" enough so he ordered another one to be done next week, so back to pick the ol gal up and back into her spot. the people over the back had their scruffy out of control trees cut down so that has enabled me to perv over the fence while in the bus    I planted the tomato plant (Beef steak) between the cherry trees so hoping it doesn't turn up it's leaves as everything usually does. The boysenberry vine I planted last year had gone berserk and is looking like it may yield a good crop. Had a ph call from John Day( a friend of Bricus tonight, for those that remember from the CF G and I went to his wife's funeral 10 years ago, we have kept in touch all this time, he is a lovely man and he still refers to things he does as WE, meaning his wife and him. Bed time for me Goodnight everyone :D x Goodnight birthday boy Craig :D x

Frustrating day for you and the bus Dot. Bet the view from the bus is better in a quarry, time to get that bus fixed and ready to rock n roll xxxx

Last night firing was not as successful as hoped. one bowl moved off the mould so it's a lot wonky. It will have to be flattened (by firing it on a low temp) before I try to bowl it up again. The platter, just needed more heat and a bit longer. It is having another warm up tonight. Nothing to show tonight .

Sparky came to do a check up and found the power point is wired correctly with extra heavy duty wiring. The plug that fits into the kiln had a couple of tiny scorch marks on the end of wires, so he fitted a stronger plug and is sure that it will be better now. I am not sure if this is all that's needed, but fingers are crossed. The kiln will have to earn my respect.

sweet dreams out there xxx

Deborah,

If it doesn't work, get him to install something like this.
https://www.edaonline.com.au/product/3- ... of-switch/
He will need to put a lead on the kiln with the new plug (with pins) and mount the socket on the wall.

The plug that Jon linked to, is the industrial type I mentioned a while back. Not real exxy but it won't fall out ever again. The orange bit screws the whole thing up nice and snug.

HTFFBO and Paul are embedded in the back yard, has been good to catch up with her after a long few months, have ended up with a raspy throat and I blame her. :D Keep the kiln going Deborah   Lovely day it has been sunny and warm and all the blossoms are smelling just beautiful , wisteria, lilac , lavender and next doors Jasmine. Daylight saving is now in and love it, can stay outside later. OK time for bed now so Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight Rossp x :D

Dot, you watching some skinny arses running after a ball somewhere?    xxxx Now I see you have been entertaining, go girl. Some laughter therapy is all good xxxx

Thanks Jon and David, for your great suggestions. I printed that out and if I need to call my sparky back, I will show it to him. Looks pretty strong and that may be exactly what is needed.

Todays firing was not hot enough, (my programming, not the kilns fault), so it's all getting warmed up again tonight. Should be turned off by 9am and cool enough to open by lunch time. This kiln really takes a lot longer to cool down than the older one. The older one was made from fibre and the new one is all brick construction. I understand why it takes so long to cool, but it can be a long wait, just to have a quick look to check how well (or not), the glass has reacted.

Had a great email last night. Asking me if I wanted to sell at Minerama in Glen Innes next year. This is the only big festival the we have managed to get to each year, so we are feeling almost "normal" again. I filled all the paperwork out and rushed it to be posted and started doing a few of the tasks that are needed once the invites start rolling in. Spreadsheet with vital information has been started and is ready for more to be filled in as the emails start to come in. It just feels good to be able to think about business stuff again. This year at Glen Innes we had to wear masks and had hand sanitiser at each end of the stall. If this is what it takes for us to be back selling, then it shall happen.
