Have had a rather "interesting" last few days. Felt a lump in m head Thursday night and thought it might have been a tick. Have had strange painful bits all over the right side of my head, neck and the right eye. Margaret checked it out and said it looked like I'd cut myself, then later took a photo and a lump could clearly be seen.
Next morning, definite red welts were apparent just on the hairline and the eyebrow on the right side. Off to he doctor and he confirmed it was shingles, gave me anti viral meds and booked me into my eye specialist Monday morning.
Saturday morning, right eye swollen and red, closed up, definite welts all around .... rang my eye specialist and he said to head for RAH emergency dept. Ended up in an isolation room and admitted for 24hrs. 4 bags of drugs pumped int the system, checked every 2 hrs, they really looked after me. It must have been a pain in the butt to go through all the gowning up, mask and gloves in the "air-lock" room each time, but it didn't seem to alter the great attention I received
Out Sunday afternoon, still exhausted, even though I'd slept for most of the time. Off to bed as soon as we reached home and slept till Monday morning when Margaret woke me to get showered and dressed for the eye specialist. Mixed news, it wasn't in my eye itself .... yet .... nothing that can be done to stop it ..... hopefully it will run down my nose and make that all scaly and that will mean it won't attack the eye. Then the cheery part .... it will get worst before it gets better .... bargain ....
So now I'm to stay well clear of everyone till a week after all the symptoms go away, Margaret is ok to mingle with the public, as long as she does not start to show any symptoms.
I still have to do the capacity test and recharge part of Chris & Val's (chrisval on caravanners) battery service (installed in 2016) so Val can come and reinstall the batteries under Margaret's watchful eyes.
If I'd known getting an old age pension meant all this stuff came with it, I might have decided against it
