Yep Dot, would be lovely to return to days when all the politically correct crap was never heard of. xxxx
The news of the return of young Chloe is all good so far. What are they not telling us?
Had a bit of a chase medical stuff day, nothing important, just a regular PITA.
Kiln behaved, again. Musta been the lovely sparky who checked it all out and fitted new plugs. It hasn't missed a beat since and I don't want to jinx it at the moment. The piece is nicely flattened and there is another getting the same treatment tonight, getting ready to become platters.
Hopefully, tomorrow will be a quiet day in the lair, but nothing can be predicted around here. It is getting a little bit rainy at the moment, so that is another plus.

You home Dot? Looking for a quiet corner for you and your pussy?

Shirley, sorry I forgot about your important bowls events. Our garden just needs a good drink, so I was momentarily happy. Hope you get some good bowls weather this weekend.
Next door, the air bnb is back in swing. I don't mind seeing different people around the place, but I hate feeling that I need to lock up every time I go down to my shed or worse, I can't just do a nighty run and not be seen by strangers. I wouldn't want to cause them to have a heart attack! Kiln was good, well behaved even. That gives me a couple of flat bits to turn into platters. Tonight is the turn of a re-run, hoping to fire out some very ugly air bubbles.
Much of today was spent booking caravan parks for next year with the jayco mob. Thankfully, I double check all email receipts when they come in. One of them managed to give us the wrong dates PITA. All sorted now. Another mentioned that the sites that the club had asked to be put into a block, on hold, just have a listing on them to say that's where they intend to build cabins early in the year. After letting our organiser know about this, I don't think we will return to this particular park. They manage to stuff us up a lot with group bookings, so it pays to be over fussy with checking things.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Missed last night, fell asleep in my chair.
It was a hot day today, not used to it so not too much time spent outside, I got a few shrubs trimmed ie daisies, lavender and bottle brushes. Saw our residential lizard today so a nice shallow water bowl put out for it. See the Covid numbers are increasing noticeably in England so I guess we shall be back to surges as well mainly due to the tin hatters refusing to believe there is such a thing as Covid. My friend who is dependent on the RAH for keeping her alive said the hospital has already set up extra wards ready for the invasion of the next lot most of them from over seas. I still think they are asking for trouble opening up everything, disagree with the plane fares cashing in by nearly 100%. Brian will have his friend Rosy here for a week so he is pleased.
Hope all our sickies here are on the mend but for now I'm off to bed so Goodnight everyone x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
You are lucky to have the energy to come here then, after such a lovely warm day again today. Dot, relax a bit huh? xxxx
Had another busy day here, back getting into the swing of stuff. I brought this beauty up from the kiln today. The bubbles didn't disappear, they multiplied. Now there is a layer of tiny bubbles all through the white patch, but it looks like a seller now. I haven't taken a today photo, so this is yesterday. The only difference that is visible is that I made the bowl a tiny bit deeper and there are even more tiny bubbles, but it's pretty good After I brought it upstairs, we had an executive meeting. We both realise how much more expensive the glass has become and that I am spending more on powering up the new kiln, so the pricing had to change. Bowls, platters etc will now be $60 instead of $50. That meant setting up and creating new price labels and laminating them. Always looks professional, so it's worth the effort.
While our next proper selling event is posted for early December, we will have a couple of jayco get togethers, before then, and they are always good for my ego and my wallet.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
That turned out rather swanky Deborah very nice, how big are they? The mozzies are really bad, day or night even putting the buzz off stuff on before my dacks and a spray the top of the dacks and they still bite. Cleaned out the galahs cage and found another egg so that is gone and new straw put down. Put the old straw around the fruit trees. HTFFBO rang this arvo they are heading for Winton, she said the hoards of tourists have dwindled most likely to the heat, she said their van fridge is struggling in the heat. Next door had a load of base stuff ready for his shed to go up soon and the septic tank is due sometime this week so progress at last. They have had to use our driveway as the house is so close to the boundary. Had a bit of drizzle today but not enough to get into the soil. Goodnight everyone x

have a look here. They make labels and signs. You can even include graphics into them. Quite cheap and excellent service.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, that plate is my biggest yet. It's a 29.5 centimetre square. It's the biggest the kiln shelf will hold. Can't go any bigger, even if I wanted to. I think the weight of this plate is as heavy as I would like to carry with food on, so I am happy with the size now. Originally, I wanted a much bigger kiln, but this one is ok for what I do. Enjoy your laugh therapy xxxx
Jon, thanks for the interesting site. I did a bit of a recky over there, and they do look good. I am happy making my own signs, with my dragon logo. I like to have control of exactly what they say and the spacing has to be how I like, got that I may be a little bit of a control freak?
It's also quick-ish to make new ones, when I decide to change the prices. It's just being able to use the saved signs from my files and changing them to suit. No real drama, just fiddly and time.
Today was a kilnfart day. The controller decided that it was too hot in the room overnight and stopped halfway through the final segment. Today I was happy to see how the platter had fitted into the mold, but it had to be annealed properly . It was sent back to 510degrees C and held for a couple of hours and all is well. I can't see me babysitting the kiln for the full 9-15 hours of its cycles. I just have to be more patient and maybe leave the window open a bit more on hot nights.
Finally some late afternoon showers and now decent rain (sorry Shirley, but you don't play bowls at night do you?).
While the kiln did it's thing, I baked a fancy apple and maple syrup cake. I really think I cook glass much better than I cook cakes. His Nibs is happy, he will eat anything sweet, but it's a bit OTT for me.
