Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Lake Macquarie is one of the biggest salt water lakes in Australia open to the ocean thru channel at Swansea, Jon_d 174km circumference twice the size of Sydney harbour.
Catherine Hill Bay is on the coast, there was a jetty built to export coal from the mines in the area in the 1800s, the cottages were originally owned by the mines, Moonie Beach south side of Catho, they use to keep the horses that were used in the mines.

Where are all the people coming from?, the same is happening over here (SA) all farming land is now cramped little box's just like that song "little box's" no yards cutters 2 inches apart, roof all the same colours etc, even little old Strath has expanded beyond belief, but where are the facilities to cope with these estates? no new water dams, crap roads, hospitals closing, ??? Oh well that's what they call progress HUH. Hope your latest kiln masterpiece comes out as you expect. More rain today out water tank has been over flowing for a week now. Off to bed now so Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight Stiff eyed Terry x

Yes, Dot, Little boxes on the hillside is exactly what they are. Our town doesn't have much spare land, so council is allowing "granny flats" to be built on any block that is over 400sq m. There will be no back yards left, if the gumbymint has it's way xxxx

Today's work of art.

I am so happy with the way this one looks, that I cut out another with the same dimensions. I didn't have enough of the same glass left to complete a full plate, so I added some purple rectangles to this one as well. It's decorations are blue scribbles with some sun flowers. They are fancy squiggles that I buy from a lady who lives somewhere near The Ukraine. Her English is sh**, but her squiggles are great.

We only had 2 inches of rain over night, but the day was lovely and bright with a hint of strong winds.

night all xxx

Wow Deborah that plate is really unique, no wonder you like it, really special 10/10, the colours are great.

Dot I only thought the same thing during the week when I drove to Tuggerah, the housing estate that backs onto the old highway the guttering almost touch each other so close together, houses are being built to close together.
Agree with the roads etc., too, already thought that our one road in & out of this area will never cope with the volume of traffic & its already in poor condition.

Hope you are not feeling the treacherous winds that are haunting us at the moment Dot. Stay sane mate xxxx

Thanks Shirley. It's great when one of my works ends up how I think it will. Wyong and Tuggerah are certainly becoming slums of the future. No family could live so close to another and stay sane. We won't be bragging about our bigger blocks, we pay the council enough as it is!

Today's kiln adventure was not so exciting. I had 4 already flattened wine bottles in getting a bit of a bend in the neck, to make a handle. Two of them managed to split right across the widest part. I was a bit surprised, because it was the same schedule that I have used for bottles all along. After a bit of computer research, it turns out that not all wine bottles will behave as they should. It's all because of the number of times that the glass has been recycled. Obviously, I can't see any signs of pre-damage, so it's a bit hit and miss.

The winds today have taken their toll. We stayed indoors mostly because we couldn't open the door most of the time. Our phones wouldn't work either, so we felt a bit isolated.

Hope the new happy pills make you happy Dot. What was your birthday present that needed tending, animal, mineral or plant? ;) xxxx

The winds have been horrific today. We watched a local yacht set sail, during the worst of the gales and then a couple of hours later, he returned, being towed by marine rescue. Don't know what happened, but it would be related to the huge winds and waves across the whole lake. Give some people boats, and they lose their common sense. I know common sense is not that common.

Platter in kiln has finished, but it was too hot to open up and have a sticky beak, Tomorrow will tell.
