Taste in ads … or not

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Taste in ads … or not

Post by Greynomad »

Woolworths ad agency needs a lesson on taste.
Their latest ad features a boy in a Spiderman outfit opening a Christmas present then sitting with his mouth wide open, reminiscent of the photo of William Tyrrell, the boy who disappeared from Kendall!

We said the same thing when it popped up on the screen last night.

I see a big reaction to that ad and see it disappear very soon. Has there been any updates re Little William?

I just wonder if the truth will ever come out about what really happened to that poor little boy.

CORRECTION: It’s a Target ad.
I was so stunned by the similarities between the ad and the photo of William that I didn’t take in the advertiser’s name.
That makes it poor advertising, as well as poor taste.

Watched the big bash game last night, a lot of spiderman costumes there, so I don't think the cross-over is as bad as you think. The William Tyrrell thing hasn't tarnished the spiderman image as far as I can see, the media might have saturation covered William in a spiderman suit, but the general public seems able to separate William from spiderman ......

T1,
It wasn’t the Spiderman suit per se, but the pose of the kid, sitting on the floor with his mouth wide open. He even had one knee raised, just like the photo of William Tyrrel released to the media.
BTW, as Woolies owns Target, I got a response to my complaint email. Apologising for the image and promising that my concerns will be raised with the appropriate people.
