ScoMo has been promising the moon.
Gadding about the country (at taxpayers’ expense) for ‘gummint business’ which just happens to be in marginal seats.
Just heard on the news that Albo is also at it.
Promising a $500m high-speed rail link Sydney to Newcastle.
Mmmmmmm. Maybe.
ScoMo’s response: “It’s too expensive!”
Seems I’ve heard that line before.
Oh, I remember, it was when Labor promised a high-speed internet connection with optical fibre to every home.
Instead, ScoMo’s answer was optical fibre to nodes and the creaky old copper telephone cables to homes.
So what’s ScoMo’s alternative cheaper plan for this one?
High-speed trains pulled by draught horses?

Re: It’s Election Time again…
In all fairness to Scomo, it was Turnbull, as Communications minister and Abbott as PM, that cooked up that money saving idea. And we then got the NBN they thought we deserved.
At the end of the day, I think Scomo needs a back hander or two, just to wipe that smug look off his face though.
There aren't too many in mainstream politics that I would vote for at the mo'. They all tell factual untruths, and stretch ones acceptance of their reality.
We will have to wait a bit longer to see who the King maker ( Rupert Murdoch) has decided should run the country next, and who he has put his substantial weight behind.

My apologies.
Blame chemo-brain.
It was still the Lib-Nats Coalition, of which he was a part.
They keep playing the same record when the Labor Opposition suggests or promises anything.
After a while people just stop listening. To either party.

I reckon ballot papers should carry a compulsory additional option:
“None of the above. Please rewrite and resubmit.”

Re: It’s Election Time again…
We voted on Saturday...local council is a postal vote..The Mayor (previous) done a runner before being in trouble for ripping off the people.
There are 5 nominee's I don't know any of them and none seamed fit to come and tell me how good they are...so I didn't vote for any of them. They could all be crooks like to former.
Bernie.

Re: It’s Election Time again…
Bernie,
It seems these days it’s the rule, rather than the exception, that local council is seen as a stepping stone to state/federal politics.
No-one seems to want to just serve their local community.
We have one lady in our local council who is a ‘locals first’ councillor, but everyone else seems to have one eye on state or federal seats.

Re: It’s Election Time again…
My first thoughts when I hear of another election coming up is:-
"Another Erection to raise some prick in Parliament to screw us all"
I might be a bit too cynical for some here but I do think I have encapsulated the Errectoral Processes.
First, woo us with promises and sweet talk.
Then when a partnership is established, get control of the purse strings and use them to bully the "partners" into submission.
Then, when full control is established, finish the actions by convincing the "partners" it's for your own good", as well as the usual"trust me" and "you'll never find someone as good as me to help you live a completed life".
This sounds like a bad marriage that some of us may have endured sometime in our life. ( politics is not much different to that, is it.)
The only difference is that we can change partners every new Errection hoping the next incumbent ain't gunna screw us as hard as the last one, and can at the very least give us something to smile at as they blithely forge ahead in the power game of politics.
