Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

What did they knock you back on George.
Bernie.
Bernie, excessive play in power steering ram, leaking oil seal in diff, front brake adjustment and a couple of thing that weren't as per a new vehicle.

Have a good morning All. I managed to clear the leaves from the house gutters.

George
Depends where the excessive play in the power assist ram is, if it is the control valve, you could try tightening the clamping nut and see if that helps, but if the ball is warn, there will be tight spots outside the straight ahead position .... if the cups and valve assembly is also worn .... you need to find an "expert" who is old enough to understand the system and the luck to find parts.

The diff oil leak, might just be a pinion oil seal but there is a whole wad of gasket material behind the seal mounting plate and that combines with the shim behind the pinion load bearing to get the pinion centred on the crown wheel ..... the big thick gasket is because they designed the diff housing wrong and if it sits in the position that would allow a normal gasket, the diff fails within 1,000kms .....

Brake adjustment .... are they wedge brakes or the earlier hydraulic twin cyl type? Either type requires special skills when adjusting to avoid front wheel lock up on wet roads .....

You are real lucky if you have the wedge brake system, the air tanks and brake valve all work well, the old compressors, when worn, pump 50/50 oil and air and wreck everything ........

Did SFA at the Men’s Shed last week, but I didn’t finish.
Had to go back today to finish doing SFA. Still had more to do…
I’m home now finishing the job in my Playpen. 😁
