Re: Good morning daily
Good morning, had a little sleep in today. Hope you enjoyed your bacon and eggs Bernie. Did a bit of mowing yesty morning, then wasted most of the arvo trying to figure out how to open the boot of a BMW that has a flat battery. They are bloody clever, those design engineers. Safe travels everybody.
Cheers

Re: Good morning daily
Car David?
“In order to get into your BMW’s trunk with a dead battery, you will need to:
Release the hidden key in your key fob by pressing the release button on the back of the fob.
Locate the slot for your manual key. On some BMWs, there will be a manual key slot on the trunk or under the lid. If so, unlock the trunk.
Find key slot on door. If there’s nowhere to use a key on the trunk, try the door. The driver’s side door, in particular, will likely have a slot for a manual key. If so, unlock the car.
Open hidden key compartment. If your door doesn’t appear to have a key slot, it may be under your door handle in a concealed compartment. Wedge the key into the space beneath the compartment and pop it off, and the key slot will become visible. Unlock the car.
Fold down the back seats for access to the trunk. At this point, you will be able to retrieve your jumper cables. but if you want to open the trunk from here, you will find a rectangular tab on the interior of the trunk’s door. Pull the tab out and a wire should come with it. By pulling on the wire, the trunk will open.

Re: Good morning daily
Thanks for that research Bruce. Good old Google. Wish I had thought about flopping the back seat. I finally found that there is a hidden batt +ve tab on top of the rocker cover. That let me connect a jumper battery. The I had to connect a not smart charger to get the battery off dead flat.
Today I found that BMW'S have there own special OBD2 connection cable. Glad it's not my car, and I'm not going to have to fix it. Also found there is about a 3 amp constant drain on the battery. Bloody cars.
What ever happened to points and carbies, I know how all that works.

Re: Good morning daily
Dave, a friend of mine had a Mercedes which they would leave in their locked garage whenever they went away for a few weeks and when they arrived home the battery would be flat and stuffed, 4 new batteries required. I found a constant drain and tracked it down to the fact that, despite ignition and all else being switched off, unless all doors were locked the drain continued. Because their premises were fully protected they didn't bother locking the car.

Morning all,
I'm in Casxno Village and yesterday tested positive for Covid on a RAT. This morning I'm going to get a PCR test to confirm results. Felt like every joint in my body was being drilled out and all the muscles pulled apart. So lockdown here.
