Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

The parents of one group have a $2000 pls power bill every quarter, no idea with the others. The system owner is paying but we are refunding the cost of the MPP solar controller off the price, mainly because they were still working but we needed to change to higher capacity controllers to make up for the loss of the 2 x 80 amp MPPT controllers that were part of the failed inverters.
My estimate of 5 hrs ended up taking 14hrs  The usual thing, I can get done about a 1/4 of what I thought I could in the time I guestimated  Didn't plan for the 4 boards to need stripping down and 2 removed to relocate wiring, then the added wiring for the 3rd inverter and ..... getting old I guess
All finished now anyway ... well, until May, then we have to do a service on the battery pack. Still trying to figure out how to disipate 600 amps @ 24vdc for 2hr to do the capacity test .... maybe 4 x 3.5kW water heater elements in the water tank powered by the ...... no, 3 x 5kva inverters won't power 14kW of heater elements for 2 hrs .... more thinking required ...

Actually had Sunday off to do stuff at home. Dragged the pump back down to the river, only half as many leaks this time  Made up a battery out of 4 "not so good" modules from the Prius battery packs I've been trying to revive. They can handle 9v each module, so two modules in parallel and two of these is seris to make a battery that can handle up to 18v. This just happens to be the open circuit voltage of a 12v nom. solar panel, so no solar controller required. Dragged the 4 x 130w solar panels (that had been leaning up against the fence for the last few yrs) onto the trailer, a spiderweb of ratchet straps in an attempt to stop them sliding off between the workshop and home, tied them to the big gum tree and got 3 out of the 4 wired up to charge the battery and drive the water pump .... naturally by then the sun was all but down for the day, but had a 5 min run for proof on concept ..... need to rig up a cut off relay to the pump if a module drops below 6v ...... maybe next week end

Good morning Dot. I'm just listening to the storm that has been hanging around all day. We have had 100mm of rain in the past 2 hrs. More than 200mm for the day. Will see what the morning brings. I'm hope the people in the low lying areas are safe.
Cheers

Good morning everyone. The rain has stopped now and the storm has moved further south. I hope it has gone out to sea. Stay safe everybody.
