Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
G man went for his post op check up, surgeon pleased apart from when G told him he could bend down, climb the ladder etc
Then he got told off
Dr said ladders are not for people over the age of 40. Anyway all good with the knee. Then off to physio, she was very pleased with the knee results as she also saw the post op surgery pics
I stayed home and did the washing. Time to mow the lawns again. Tomorrow another day of appointments, me the dentist and G the call back to see GP re results. Time to say goodnight everyone x
Goodnight Jd x

Dot, the suggestion to park all intruders in with your bus is a good one. Obviously, they are in your way, so make em inconvenienced too. You both are packing a lot into a day. take it easy there mate xxxx
I managed to get a last minute cancellation at the quacks, of course my gp is on holidays. So the person I saw, was not prepared to give me an xray request for both hips, because she claims I have bursitis and it is only affecting one side. Until the xray is done, I don't know any better. She then started out with the line that it can be cured with a steroid injection and exercises. Would not give a referral for the injection until results are known. My usual gp, at the same practice, would have printed a referral off without me even asking. The exercises that she gave me were not really going to do much help because they are all dependent on being able to get down and up off the floor. That went out about last century for me.
Xray and scan to be done tomorrow. Again, I lucked an appointment because of a last minute cancellation. Modern medicine is a joke here, not very modern and certainly driven by the almighty dollar.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
How did the X/R go today Deborah? GP called G in to discuss his blood results, she punched the numbers into some medical website and it came up with G is mid range for either heart or stroke within the next 5 yrs if he doesn't watch his BP etc. His PSA is fine and his Vit B12 is also stable but she suggested a low dose of Vit D tabs in the winter mths (if your bone density is a bit low) She also said the new tests for renal function are nothing like they used to be and now she said those new tests are showing up more things that before had not been considered. Interesting... Today my never met friend popped in to say goodbye as he was going to some place in Africa for a visit while he can, Got a lovely photo of which he is going to send me. HTFFBO is back in her van tonight after a drawn out episode with one of their friends that ended in a hosp stay after surgery, she and he got back today but she needs a good break, it has neen nearly 4 weeks of her being the mans carer, flying here and there etc. Me to the dentist tomorrow boo boo, and now I am off to bed so Goodnight everyone x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
You are brave to ask Dot. The xray showed a seriously bad bursa and the lady wanted to get the doc to put in a steroid injection on the spot. That never happens at this practice, so I suspect it is pretty bad. Doc looked at the referral and said, he couldn't do it on that referral. So now I have to try to get in to see the same quack and beg her to write the appropriate referral. And some time next week I may be lucky to get the injection. To say I am peed off is an understatement. Hope the fang farrier is good to you xxxx
After a horrible day with the xray, we did a quick trip to spotlight for some more fabric for my stall covers (while it was on special) and went to lunch at the bigger shopping centre at Tuggerah. We had forgot it was school hols and the children noise was deafening, so we opted out of the food court and went outside to a steak house which used to be pretty good. Well the noise from their music was almost as bad as the food court and his hamburger was cold with a luke warm lump of meat and even the slice of cheese was close to frozen solid. Hence, we wont be returning there either.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Hi Deborah after years of GP visits and tons of pain relief nothing improved with my back. Lucky about 18 months ago a GP I was seeing since moving here suggested a pain specialist may help. Well that was the best suggestion I have ever had and he arranged for a series of cortisone injections for the nerves.
Down side is they can have a short or long term effect. Managed to easy about 60% of my pain and after 40 years of 24/7 pain it was a relief. But all good things must end and the treatment wore off. Cut it short a phone call with my specialist after a 3 month wait resulted in a two week wait for new injections.
Went in yesterday for epidural cortisone injection and a high frequency of burning of the nerves down the lumber. Woke up and as soon as I moved the relief was excellent. Will take 2/3 days for the cortisone to take full effect and then must remember to take it easy and nothing to aggregate the back.
Please research spinal pain management specialist in your area, research them then talk to your normal GP when they are back.
I hope you do get relief and soon Robert.

RnB,
Sorry to hear your cortisone treatment wore off.
About 25~30yrs ago I had a cortisone injection for a spur on my heel.
I was also told it may wear off.
It hasn’t. Heel still pain-free.
Different people, different results.
Hope you can get relief again soon.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Had the nerve burning each side of my neck some yrs back, it gave pain relief for long enough to exercise the torn ligaments and muscles to again support my head enough to stop the vertebrae pinching the nerve and causing the muscle spasms that lead to the insane headaches.RobertNotBob wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 6:03 am Hi Deborah after years of GP visits and tons of pain relief nothing improved with my back. The nerves grew back but at least I can now exercise my neck enough to keep the headaches from developing into the blinders that plagued me for so long after the accident.
If you can isolate which nerves are giving the trouble, the frequency burning will give you huge relief, be sure the specialist doing the nerve burning knows about the newer procedure for burning the nerve from two different directions, the single direction method can be a bit hit and miss or only a partial hit resulting in the nerve regrowing much faster than expected .... you may later decide to get the nerves cut to provide a much longer term relief, if not permanently.
