Re: CM$A Magazine
I will have to read that issue when we get back home.
Not real sure that all that many of the old guard over there still exist. Some have moved on, others have passed on.

I'm still a member if only to help pay for the many, many dump points that they have initiated & are still involved with organising installations of same.
The club has done more for RV travellers than any other organisation, great pity that elected members can cause others to leave, give some a little power & it goes to their head.

Think it is slowly being overtaken by caravan owners, they are still always trying to get full voting rights, guess these new club owned parks are an attraction too, one wonders if members will continue to volunteer to be custodians at same.

Re: CM$A Magazine
I joined in '98, the first yr the Whitworth's surrendered control of the club to elected officers. I talked with them at the AGM held at the Warragul rally and asked their views on the shitte fight that had already started as a result of little people getting a big head once they were put in a position of control.
They were very disappointed after working so hard to build the club into something that could organise it's own insurance for those who could not get insurance otherwise ( back then you couldn't insure a motorhome or any vehicle with living facilities if it wasn't a caravan) and had a voice in govt depts as a collective group. The problem was the club had outgrown anything that could be handled as a part time thing while still running a business.
At the meeting, that president had stacked the meeting with his supports, but they soon discovered there were even more members present that wanted him out, so he quite before the meeting even started and left the rally site.
So the shitte fight between those in office and the people they are supposed to represent has been going on for a very long time, we have had good people in the job, but they all received the usual knives in the back that these sort of organisations seem to generate.
After 15 yrs continuous membership and getting banned from the old forum the first time, rejoining the forum later to support someone being unfairly attack by people who were talking through their butts and didn't have a clue about the subject, then became the focus of similar attack groups, the once valuable source of information, the Wanderer, was moved off to a commercial, enterprise, the insurance went to water and money was being wasted on proposed new office sites that turned out to be contaminated with buried asbestos waste, I was so discussed I quit the CMCA all together.
My life still continued, my birthdays weren't cancelled, places to dispose of waste produced when travelling were still there, just more appeared with silver plaques proclaiming the dump point business sponsors names, rest areas were still getting closed, vehicles with CMCA stickers on them were still seen parked in areas that were closed off by the caretakers of that particular rest area for regeneration or the fact you are not allowed to set up a camping spot closer than XX mtrs from a water source, still saw idiots with the grey water hose over the bank and into the river or creek ... including at the Maleny get together, so no real education about responsible use of these areas was being generated by this group who claimed they were the collective voice of motorhomers ......
I haven't seen the article about lithium batteries in the Wanderer yet, but I have heard a lot from people who have read it and had a laugh about some of the "information" in it. Ill reserve my opinion on what is in the article until I've had a chance to read it, but I expect it to be similar to some of the nonsense I've seen on other forums .....
