Hi all,
We dont quite meet the criteria for a big rig, being 12m overall including the trailer, haven't had too many problems anywhere, except have dragged the tail on a number of occasions usually in and around service stations and have had some problems accessing some fuel pumps. (Reminder! don't go any where near Wollworths service stations in the bus) But if you want a laugh go to any of the older CPs, without drive through sites, particularly during holiday periods and watch the once a yearers make an absolute balls up of parking a van, it will quickly dispel any doubts most of us have to our own reversing abilities. Most of the larger rigs have a reasonable turning circle as they were originally designed as a bus and as such were designed for round town access, with their own length in mind. where as most of the 4 X 4 s have a turning circle considerable worse and when the overhang is taken into account make reversing extremely difficult anyway, I have a 2m overhang on the bus and have to be aware of the side ways movement of the rear even when turning, I don't have a lot of trouble reversing (but then again I have had some experience backing trailers) One of my biggest problems is that coupled with the long overhang is a relatively short wheel base, If I was to tow a normal trailer, or caravan, with an "A" frame type of tow bar I would either bend the tow bar, damage the back of the bus, or both if I was attempting a U turn employing more than half lock.

Watching a couple, well it started out as a couple here at the local c/p yesterday. The old fella, (about my age) was doing pretty well until the old girl started giving directions, waving arms and yelling but from within the blind spot behind the van. He was getting angry and angrier with her and this bought out all the other experts in the park to help. That was the end of any form or order, more opinions than a meeting of the UN. Old fella eventually got out and grabbed a beer and just sunk into a chair.....Lol.

Funny you should mention that, maybe they are related. Mine has the same problem but then denies she gets it wrong. Still where would you be without them.

  love it, I reckon that will be my method if it all goes pear shaped, stop right there, set up the chair and have a beer, the crowd will give you rousing cheer, all bugger off, the co pilot will explode and bugger off somewhere with the dirts and the you can get the job done at your own pace 8-)
A reversing camera is a great investment but not one with a microphone, you can at least get a giggle with all the co pilots arm waving but you get the peace and quite you need to get on with the job.
