Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Good night Dot, the trouble around our region like a lot of the coast, we have had so much rain over the last few months that the ground is saturated, it only takes a decent downpour & areas flood, our roads are falling to pieces pot holes everywhere anyone following me today might have thought that I'd had one to many, dodging the pot holes.

Dottie,
Is the “partridge in a pair tree” hopping from one of the pair to the other?
Or are there two partridges, one in each of the pair of trees?

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, the difference is having a fancy name give these "specialists" the right to charge in thousands. I don't know if their work is any better than the local fang farrier, but ours refuses to do root canals and sends you off to be ripped off by the specialist. His Nibs has had to travel to Gosford for a couple and I am not impressed with the bills, but he still has the teeth, so maybe it is special treatments. We always turn off the water when we leave home for long-ish times. It's just another way to protect the house when we aren't around to hear those noises. We have heard a few horror stories from people a long way from home. Better prepared and safe. xxxx
Yes Ray, we were very lucky.
The rest of our good news is that the solar battery is not part of the recall, but it us due to have a software update (on a battery?). The update isn't ready to be installed, so it can wait until we return.
The other crazy, is the kiln man. I sent him an email six weeks ago requesting a service call following a phone call to him. As I didn't want to get started on anything really involved at the moment, I didn't bother chasing him up. Tonight, there was an email, offering to book it in for next week. He too can wait. If we were made of money, I would chuck the 80kilo kiln at him
and go buy another from somewhere else. Annoyingly, he is the only kiln service person in the area, so stuck with him and his lack of service.
Gooder news, is that the van is packed. A few last minute fridge things and we shall be outta here in the morning. I have been trying to speak to the staff at Lightning Ridge to change our booking for the van park and leaving messages on their phone all week. Finally, today there was a person answering the phone. I changed our day of arrival to Sunday and no problems. Now we will have a rest day, after travelling, before we have to set up our stall.
Tomorrow will be the start of another adventure.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Deborah re the root canal, NO way will I ever pay between $2500 - $3000 for one tooth plus the between $200 & $300 for a consultation with these other dentists. Rang the specialist people and asked for a rough price and that is what I got. NO WAY. I rang my dentist and asked if they did root canals as my dentist there has retired. She said "certainly" so I booked G in for one of the other guys for opinion, seeing as the tooth in question is right up the back it can come out. Hope you have a successful trip and come back refreshed and rearing to get back into your girl shed.
Ray got my pairs and pears mixed up but I had been talking to HTFFBO and I was in her zone.
Shirley what about the grass surfaces like the MCG, they are so well drained you could play 365 days a year, just imagine that. Our road has been the pot hole road of the century of all Australia but I am onto that.
Headed to Mt Barker today after my GP phone consult, she is such a great Dr, never rushes so I got my 3 scripts, 3 referrals and she was very insistent if I test positive to Covid that I ring her immediately for those anti viral pills, she said you have to get them within 3 days of pos result. Then we went to pick up the bus from the radiator place, they are really lovely people that explain everything, turned out the cooling system flushed repeatedly as it was very dirty, refilled with good coolant, system run and tested OK. Had to fabricate a new neck (near the filler cap) as old one was badly corroded. Would recommend this place 100%. Happy now. The BOB's are now on so I am saying goodnight everyone x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Glad that you got that quote Dot. I really hate it when any dentist decides they have a speciality and charge ridiculously. They are not in the business to help people, just to make money. Same as doctors who claim they are skin specialists (GP qualified only), they open up clinics and pull in the dollars. We see a proper qualified skin specialist and she charges enough too, but she has the training and pieces of paper. Get out in that bus now xxxx
We started the day off reasonably early and drove as far as Singleton (about an hour and half) when I realised that the business bag is still on the bedside table at home. Not very happy about that, but it does have a lot of money in it as well as the credit card machine and notes for each event. So we returned home and it seemed like it was meant to happen. I had been trying to chat to our elusive postie for the week, as he does keep an eye on our house. He lives in the next street and we are friends, so I got to chat with him. He will let us know if the place is looking like it needs a mow etc. Then we saw a pile of parcels being delivered by courier to our tenants house, next door. She is away for the weekend and her parcels would definitely not have still been there when she returns. They were put inside her house and we could get started back on the road.
No real delays or problems on the road and we made it to Quirindi for our stop tonight. It's an el cheapo council run park that seems a little bit tired in the condition of the sites. They do have what looks like a very new bathroom block and laundry and they have a busy train line right next to it. Coal trains that seem to blow their horns just as they get level with the park ggrr. Anyway, we are safe and warm, so that's all that counts. There is no manager on site just phone the number and pay by credit card. Wonder how many people just don't pay?
We will move on tomorrow.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
If your having any trouble with the Van Parks at Lightning Ridge I can highly recommend Carinya Station
It's a station that during the hard times welcomed the Grey Nomads and for some small work around the station, like collecting eggs, help contain piglets etc, you got free board, as well as a community fire nearly every night.
You won't get any referrals to them from the tourist bureau in town as they only support the "Pay For Parks".
Carinya Station is out about 10 k's from town way down past the thermal pools to a T section, turn Right and start looking for their gate on the Right.
Plenty of parking spaces, no crowding, even for the occasional Euro Tourist.
We enjoyed our stay there, spacious parking areas, all for a little assistance in and around the station with the family, we had a great time using there as a base for exploring the whole area.
We made some good friends that we are still in touch with these days.

Ron that place sounds a great place to stay, shall keep that one in the must go to place. Deborah you must of left your stuff home for a reason now you know why. Today has been a great day, warm and sunny so got some gardening stuff done and then sat outside with a cuppa and had a chat to HTFFBO. Brian's friend Rosy is paying us a visit for a few hrs while her mum goes to lunch at one of the wineries with her mates from work. BOB's tonight is the time trials then it's off to the final day in Paris. George You didn't say what was wrong with your bird runner? Reckon I will run a long hot bath, put my PJ's on ready for the BOB's so take care everyone. Goodnight everyone x
Goodnight Nini x

Dot that bath sounds warm....that would be nice. Enjoy mate xxxx
Ron, that sounds like a good place to camp. We do have a booking at the caravan park that is closest to our show. Not only do we have power and water, but we have the chance to sleep a little bit longer on show mornings. It's a "business trip" for us.
Today was straight out, get on the road and go. We ended up at Wee Waa and headed for the showground. Caretaker sent us to a site, which was very quiet. We put the van onto the site, left the truck attached to the caravan and then the loud speaker started. The speaker was right above the caravan and it was loud and calling the polo match. Apparently it will go on into the night.
We are now placed in a caravan park, that is not near the showground. It is not the best park we have stayed in and at $35 in isn't the cheapest we have stayed in. The caravan is still attached to the truck, so we will have a quick getaway in the morning.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Hi Dot, Fred the runner has continued to act strange and timid but least evening he happily came out of his cage and played around in the lounge room prior to climbing up my trouser leg and sitting on the lounge beside me and allowing me and Xena the dog to play with him for about an hour.
