Hi Dot we don't pay for scans/ exrays, everything is bulk billed.
The "drugs are payed for till the magic number is reached...I don't know the figure but we haven't payed for the last 2/3 months.

If you haven't had to pay an out-of-pocket expense for any scans X/R then your GP must be writing the special word on the referral. Well done.

George is that why you go to the hospital outpatient department, wouldn't have to pay for X-rays scans etc., there ??
Definitely up to the Dr., & how he orders your X-rays, scans etc., as to whether you have to pay or not, in our experience.

Shirley, I go to hospital outpatients because I can get treated whereas getting an appointment with our GP has, over time, become difficult.
Dot, it is because Julie still works and I/we are not prepared to forgo her income so that I can get cheap medication.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Even now that I'm a pensioner, some of my pills are expensive, some are just well out of reach, the others dropped in price once I finally got the pension.
If my injuries are more than I can patch up with a length of toilet paper and tied up with electrical tape, it's a trip to the hospital emergency dept and it needs to be a reasonably sized hospital that can do the x rays and have someone with the skills to repair the wound. The pool of blood while in triage generally gets me a fast track entry straight into the treatment area, if it was minor enough for me to sit and wait, I won't have gone there in the first place

RobertnotBob you're the ones the labor party love!!
Rip it outta you to give to the ones that need it! (or ask for it & get it?)
Used to be a country where you worked hard to get ahead & earn enough to live well once you retire.
Not sure where the country went wrong? Hopefully the Chinese arrive soon!!! haha... They'll really show you what Communism is!
Everyone equal & all hungry!

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Ten years prior to SWMBO’s retirement, a financial counsellor at her Super Fund arranged our finances so we get a part pension as well as a superannuation pension.
The plan included gathering funds to buy Girt.
My cancer treatment has meant priority treatment at hospitals, and pension prices on meds which otherwise would have cost more than $20,000/mth.
Unfortunately there isn’t a bulk billing Dr in Rutherglen. I pay for that. The nearest is 40km away.
According to the Gummint we’re still below the poverty line, but life is comfortable, if frugal.
(Of course, it helps that we own our home outright.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
A big storm just dropped a load on Dysart. It woke me up while I was watching TV and is heading down to Bernie2's area.
It delayed the Coles delivery.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
I am a self funded retiree, only have the senior concession card that we all get when not working and over 66 or so.
My doc only sends me for scans etc to places that will bulk bill (maybe by some secret agreement). Still pay about 1/2 price on scripts.
Bruce, have you ever been to China? I seriously hope for the sake of Australia and all Australians that their ideas and principles never make there way here.
