We have just arrived at Mulwala. As we came through Gundagai it wasn't hard to notice that the Murrumbidgee is as wide as it can get. Lake Hume was up as high as I have ever seen it. The Murray is up into backyards in Corowa, and in the van park on the east side of town it is probably a metre up the walls of the cabins. At Yarrawonga all the weir gates are open and the river is as high as anyone can remember.
If I was living anywhere downstream from there, I reckon it would be a good time to get a boat. A real big one. It's going to be quite a while before things get back to normal reckon.

Re: Whats with this weather ????
Spent Sat morning fitting and connecting a remote monitoring thingy to the Victron set up and solar we fitted to a houseboat upstream on the river. The hire houseboats trying to head up stream from Mannum were sure giving the motors a work out but they weren't travelling very fast .... the trip down stream will be interesting, they will need to be travelling faster than the flow rate to still have steering control, I doubt they can get enough prop speed to do it with reverse prop rotation. Getting them back into the marina might be worth a few beers and a comfy chair as well
Sunday I battled out with the boat to rescue the pump and the solar panel that was now out of sight under water ..... followed the leads from the battery box to locate them
The battery box, battery, inverter and solar regulator were a lost cause ... apparently it wasn't heavy enough to stop the plastic pallet attempting to float and then turning turtle .... if it can even be found in the mud once the river level drops. I can't imagine it would be worth the effort to get it back out, so I'll probably just save the plastic crate

Re: Whats with this weather ????
Had a storm go through here earlier today dropping 22mm rain. In the middle of another one now. Terrific thunder and heavy rain. The wind direction changes from NE to W. Radar says it will clear up soon but I see there is a lot more coming over from the west. At least I can enjoy a good storm a bit more now that I havn't got my vines anymore.
