Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

T1 Terry wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 6:11 pm You are in luck, they are just standard type truck springs, not the parabolic spring which are about as thick as the two remaining spring leaves. Problem is still the same though, too much weight being carried by the spring, you can see the remaining long leaf is starting to bend in reverse right where the helper spring ends.
In the other photo you can see the air bag doesn't look to be carrying any of the weight, it isn't ballooned out, nor is it down against the lower support.

On the RB145 I think it's something stupid like 2.5 tonne over the front axle max. it uses the overhang of the motor and gearbox behind the rear axle to counter lever some of the weight off the front. When you hit those ridges running across the road the front end just about bottoms out, then the rear bounces up out of the hollow and all the weigh comes down across the front axle and the spring bottoms out against the bump stop with such force it's bone jarring, but without the bump stop thespring turns inside out and snaps where it's held tight to the axle, at the U bolt. It snaps behind the axle because that is the end that can move back and forward on the spring hanger, the front is fixed to the chassis.... that doesn't mean it won't break after that second spring leaf snaps.
If It were me, I'd pull both spring packs out and send them to a reputable spring maker and get him to make new top and second spring leaves, that one with the reverse bend will be cracked for sure .....

The reverse bend is because that's where I'm jacked up...not the yellow jack that's there incase :D :D The air is probably down in the air bag...I didn't look at the gauge yesterday...they all leak a bit 8-)

Good morning all.
Not much progress yesterday...had to do some local shopping and such...
I found there is NO water release tap on the tanks which are obviously attached...so I had to undo one of the bungs...which in turn means everything is now wet under the bus   Oh well there's always today :D
Thanks Shirley...not happy with the fridge at the moment George I haven't been able to get the temp below 5/6 degree's...the freezer works a treat. It may end up being a household fridge in the near future.
Keep safe.
Bernie.

Good morning All. After a restart of the laptop I am now able to post here. More rain overnight so have to wait for the deck to dry before proceeding with the sanding etc. Dermatitis has decided to flair up so back onto predni$one to get on top of it :x

Correct spelling of the medication was the problem

Good morning everyone. Its a bit cool again today. South wind coming of ice somewhere. Should have brought more warm clothes with me. Might have to work harder to stay warm. Safe travels everybody, have a top day.

Good morning everyone. Looks like today is going to be very similar to yesty. We might finish banging in posts today, and start on welding in stays. Interesting process used in this new type of horse fencing.
How did you go with the spring Bernie? Hope it came out alright.
Safe travels everybody, have a top day.
Cheers

Good morning.
I spent the day getting the water tanks down from their holdings Dave...Bugga of a job, fighting Vertigo any time I lie on my back...bloody planet starts rotating
Any way they are now down...I can now get to the rear spring hangers...
By the way we have made the decision to remove both springs...one to be repaired and I will have a extra spring added to both.
That was my day...I also intended to poison the weeds around the property...but too windy.

Having a visitor today...so I will have the day off :D :D  .
I know what you mean about the cloths Dave...I didn't take enough for the extended time when I went to Vic for the bus  But what I had was warm ;)
Keep safe.

Sunny day here in Upper Mannum, might even get the bus outside some time today, that should get rid of the pesky sun for the rest of the day
Came up with a work around for the solar controller problem, still have to see if it works as intended, but all good so far :D
Fridge back in after reassembling the drawer enclosure and refitting the drawer that goes under the fridge, add some air vents first to let the heat out of the inverter under it, well it's in the enclosure under the floor but I had to cut that part of the floor out so I could get the inverter out, so may as well make use of it eh .......

Monday is the big day, looked back to the date we started this job and it's a few days short of 6 mths ....now if we could get paid for all the hrs spent on this job, I reckon we could go for a 12 mth holiday
