Re: My Collection
Ray I have two boot lasps at Terry's work shop. One similar to yours and the other is a post type with I think three different size heads that can swivel to any angle. If and when I find them and remember you can have them.

Re: My Collection
Lasps have become a thing of the past owing to the fact that many shoes today are unrepairable.
I remember as a kid Dad would put new soles on our shoes & nearly every suburb had a bootmaker, not many around now days.

Re: My Collection
When we moved into our penultimate house in Suburban Melbourne, we had a local cobbler, trained in his native Austria. Unfortunately he retired, and no-one had the skills to take over the shop, so he had to just close it.
His tailor-made shoes & boots were v. comfortable and fitted perfectly. Unfortunately most people just looked at the price tag, then went to K-Mart or Big W and bought Chinese-made crap.

Re: My Collection
Brian,
Sounds interesting! We’re angling to revisit SA in a couple of months... so start hunting!!
Judging from our last visit, we might have to join forces and turn T1’s workshop upside down!

Regards & God bless,

Re: My Collection
I was poking around in the old tool and equipment area of an antique shop on the Sunshine Coast today, and found a different type of 4 legged boot makers last.
I immediately thought of Ray and his collection of lasts and stuff. Completely different to the other couple of 4 leggers that I have seen elsewhere. Most of the stuff in the shop was a tad over priced IMHO, but it's really only worth what someone is prepared to pay. Lots of stuff that George might like too, Dot.
No photos unfortunately, but lots of stuff that I found interesting.

G thinks I don't know where he has stashed quite a bit of his (small) old tool collection. Women have eyes everywhere.
