Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Good afternoon, once again the waking up ritual was slow. I think it may have something to do with a new pill I have been put on, GP warned it may make me sleepy so might take it at T time not bed time. Shirley get those special balls going and win the next few games, I see a champion team ahead. David I would not be on the roads until all the nutters have left for home. See that nasty crash between 4x4 and road train killing all 4 kids in the car. Temp still at 27degs @7.30pm = niiiice.

Good morning.
Another relaxing day...over the back had tree cutters in so that was a bit of excitement ;)
Not much else going on in town...Carol had a small win at bingo...plus all the gossip :D
Except for opening the door I done little in the motorhome, me thinks herself is going to clean in side of it today :?:
Terry if you are about ...can I run straight 30 grade oil in the Hino engine, other than multigrade :?:
Keep safe everyone.
Bernie.

Bernie, multi grade oil is designed provide good viscosity at varying temperatures and conditions from cold to very hot and under heavy or light loads on the engine, single grade oils are designed to provide viscosity at certain temperatures and conditions and can lose viscosity when those parameters are exceeded.

As to whether 30grade oil can be used, may revolve around where you are and how much the engine has to work. Personally I wouldn't use it but stick with multi grade in a vehicle engine which may be run in different climate areas, they mostly use single grade for certain stationary engines.

If you are using a single grade oil in your vehicle and engine temperatures and strain on the engine exceeds the viscosity requirements, you may damage your engine badly.

Thanks NP, the engine is old school probably dating back to the 40/50s, they just kept making them 😉, mine is a 88 model turbo diesel intercooled.
When I had the Isuzu if I used multi it burnt oil, but not with 30 grade. I'm still within its burn rate...but blow by out the crank breather which in turn soils the back of the bus., just enough to be a nuisance 😡.

Hi Bernie
I am using Castrol RX Diesel 15W-40. No breathing issues and no consumption issues.
Over 3k since last oil change and oil has dropped about 1/8" on the dipstick.
Cheers Vic

Thanks Vic. I'm using about double what you are getting. Still acceptable.

After trying a few different oils I have found that Valvoline Super Diesel 15/40 makes for a quieter running engine in our UD FE6T and to top it off there is no consumption.

Bernie, that's what I used in the Coaster. Never had a problem with Penrite oils. But the old Coaster wasn't a turbo either.
Cheers
