Plenty of people using the term blackfella on the commentary last night Bruce, trouble is most were whiter than me.
There have been several attempts for Indigenous people to control their funding and failed, even so, everyone I spoke to would have voted yes, if they haven't wanted to put it in the constitution. Would have been stuck with it forever.
I do think there is a lot of goodwill to do something, but the first thing there has to be is an audit, to see where all this money is ending up. I can't see albo doing that though.

I agree an audit is definitely required to actually see where and how this money is spent. here are far too many people in these systems on the gravy train.
One step further I believe that every government department state and federal should have and independent audit every five years and show just where the money has gone and how effectively it has been spent. Access to the results of the audit should be freely available to all Australians to view.
A couple of years back I was Power of Attorney for my mother and dealing with Centrelink I became aware just how dysfunctional the department was so I wrote to the then PM turnbull one of our worst PM's he was only interested in selfies. I explained how it was dysfunctional and suggested a few things such as an independent audit and sacking the CEO and next 5 people under him as they had failed to lead the organization. Also the minister should be reviewed due to his lack of oversight of his department. Surprise I did not even get an acknowledgement.

Fully agree with the audits for every govt dept and every leach private business hanging off the govt at any level ..... The NDIS is a definite that should be audited every 12 mths min, along with all govt political parties regarding membership and donations.
Sad the voice didn't get up, without it written in the constitution, any gains are subject to the political value that could be gained by abandoning them grab a few votes ..... Gay marriage got across the line, but an indigenous voice was a no go in every state ..... sad it became a political football.
On another track, the workshop was finally levelled Thursday, but sadly, all the stuff I wanted rescued wasn't, including my big toolbox, the compressor, my electric vehicle motors, all the structural steel I tagged for building my workshop extension at home
I shouldn't have trusted them, but there ya go, always been a weakness I've had that comes back to bite me all my life ..... but I wouldn't be me if I lost it ....

T1,thats a bit shi##y that they didn't leave any of the stuff that you had requested they leave. Ba#&tards.
I would have serious doubt that our public services, both federal and state could find an impartial way of auditing anything, let alone where all the money goes.
I was disappointed to see that the referendum didn't get up. But when you look at hard the opposition pushed back from the very start, it probably didn't have much of a chance.

I wasn't sad at all the voice didn't get up, it would've been useless as has every other supposed system to help remote and rural people. We are lucky we have enough sensible people in Aus that can see through the scams created by brain dead academics and their elitist hangers on. Homosexual marriage is a very different thing, didn't require any funding or insertion in the constitution and people are entitled to have whatever sexual preference they want, as long as it doesn't harm others involved and they keep it to themselves.T1 Terry wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 2:49 pm Sad the voice didn't get up, without it written in the constitution, any gains are subject to the political value that could be gained by abandoning them grab a few votes ..... To me it looks like our society is fracturing along lines of self perceived entitlement, rather than coming together when the future is looking pretty grim for everyone. The trans thing makes me sick, have nothing against those who want to dress as the opposite sex, but competing and being classed biologically different to what they are, is just a sign of a sick mind.
As for the indigenous problems, easy solved and many indigenous I know have put forward ideas that would definitely work, but they are dismissed by bureaucracy and politicians, because it would upset the vested interests of the political parties. There are many communities that have introduced workable approaches, only to have them shot down by academics who have never been outside their urban jungle. Which means nothing will change until we get rid of the ruling elites and hand over control of the country to the people and the best way to do that is online government, where voters can review every departments performance and vote to sack those who waste money or abuse their positions. We have the technology and it could all be done in voluntary forum formats, which can't be hacked or intruded upon. The technology is already there, its just the majority use proprietary systems so have no control over their data or systems and pay through the nose for junk computing and phones, but by using linux container systems there's no chance of being hacked or your data stolen and used.
My last little rave is, we are seeing the complete collapse of human society around the planet, climate change, pollution unrelenting human population growth, degradation of the environment and chemically saturated foods is sending humans insane. Read the other day that this year, our government has imported 454000 immigrants, how do we cope with that insanity. We already have growing homelessness, collapsing heathy systems, inadequate transport systems and never ending prices rising. The elephant in the room is, our wonderful political gave away all our fuel supplies and now we rely upon overseas supplies which will be easily stopped if war breaks out in the middle east which looks more likely every day. Yet all our problems can be simply solved, it's just that profit growth fuels our political system and not logical rationale and there's no way we can change it until we elect a political party whose aim is to get rid of political parties and hand power to the people. Don't hold your breath waiting for anything to happen other than more of the same, no chance at all.

There is a story to that question Bruce and for the life of me I can't recall it correctly Plus NZ'rs are not sensitive pussies.

Hi Native Pepper. Was wondering what your thoughts were on the Voice. Totally agree with you. I wish the elites from Canberra would actually go into these communities and listen to them especially the women that seem to have more sense on grass root problems. Cheers John

It's a NZ moon!!
(All Blacks)
How come NZ can get away with the use of THAT word?
Here you are Bruce..
The 1905/6 New Zealand Rugby Football Union team touring Britain were famous. Not just for their winning playing record but also because they made the name “All Blacks” widely known. There are still incorrect rumours as to how they came by that title.
The Real Story
Today the accepted view is the name “All Blacks” came about as a consequence of their uniform which was composed of black jersey, shorts and socks. "The New Zealand team, dressed all in black..." The use of the word "All" was common in the early 20th Century. It's use probably distinguished a fully international team from a team representing that country. In rugby "All Japan" was used for the Japanese international side.
Dr Ron Palenski, journalist, author and historian, wrote in "Rugby: A New Zealand History":
"Whatever happened or did not happen in 1905, the team was known as the All Blacks when it arrived in Britain. There is no other way to explain this sentence in the Exeter Express the morning after the first match. 'The All Blacks, as they are styled by reason of their sable and unrelieved costume,...'"
"The first known published reference to All Blacks was in relation to the Natives... in mid-1889."
"Four years later [1893], when the first official New Zealand team was in Australia, an Auckland journalist wrote of a pending match against New South Wales: 'I expect to see the all blacks come out on top with a substantial majority.'
The False Story
Billy Wallace, one of the 1905/6 New Zealand players, speaking at the team’s 50th Jubilee in 1955, gave his version of how the name originated:
‘Now I’m just going to mention how we got the name of ‘All Blacks’. These coves don’t know, I was on the Committee and I know all about it. We played Hartlepool and we beat them 63-0, and the ‘Daily Mail’, an English paper, wrote up ‘New Zealand team all backs’ you see. So we were, all our forwards could pass as good as any back, and it was headed up ‘New Zealand All Backs’. And the next match we went on, I think it was Somerset. This ‘All Black’ was a printer’s error and we went on to Somerset and all around the town it said ‘Come and see the All Blacks play’, the printer had made a mistake and instead of ‘All Back’ he had got the l in somehow and made it ‘All Black’, and that’s how the name ………….of ‘All Blacks’ originated and it’s stuck ever since."
Winston McCarthy, rugby journalist and radio commentator wrote in "HAKA! THE ALL BLACKS STORY.":
"The other, and the one to which I incline, is that the name originated with the London ‘Daily Mail’ Rugby writer, J.A. Buttery, who in a paper-back issued after the tour, ‘Why the All Blacks Triumphed’, said that he began referring to the team as All Blacks because of the colour of their uniform. The only colour not black was the Silver Fern on the left breast and the white of their boot laces.”

I have been progressively turning the temp thingy in the fridge down it's at the number 3 mark at the moment...will check a bit later to see if it needs more tweaking.
Neighbor came around to see what we need watering while we are away, don't want to loose the tomatoes now...there will be a glut of them, about 8 vines full.

Keep safe everyone.
