Association misses greater good-Letter to Esperance Express

Post by Kit Kat »

I WRITE in reference to a report in The Esperance Express on April 11.

I am biased in my outlook, as I am one of those people that the Caravan Parks Association wish to keep out of Esperance, and Western Australia in general.

As the owner of a self-contained motorhome (and a full-time enjoyer of this marvellous country) I appreciate staying in lots of different areas (such as Quagi Beach and the suchlike), and spending our pensions in those towns which accept us.

They are those that appreciate our custom and what we spend in the town and not just to boost the profits of some greedy caravan park operator.

Is it unreasonable that we ask for somewhere to park our vehicle (12-metres long) while we spend some of that money in the town?

The majority of us have no desire to camp in town limits, but we would like somewhere to park while we do our weekly shopping and spend some of that money we have liberated from the caravan parks.

The average RV spends between $400 and $600 per week.

Ignore that at your peril, but do not condemn us because we choose not to contribute $200 (or more) per week to the coffers of someone who provides services we neither require, nor desire (playgrounds, jumping castles and the like).

Keith,
Don't think the locals care, last time we were there, went to the info centre, enquired about the overnight parking, was told that now could not over night, received other info on the town, parked out 6.7m Sprinter in the Coles Carpark, shopped at Coles and Bunnings, saw the sites then drove out to the Frenchmens Cap National park.

Had the overnight stop removed from CMCA Listing.

Last week, having removed 2 big bags of rubbish from a Murray river camp spot privately owned but left to the public to camp on, over time I could become more uncaring about Freedom Campers, if I had to constantly clean up.

Its the piggy campers will do more than anything else to close it down.
I know its trendy to blame the wicked campers, but my observations are that its the local yobbos, and those that think its ok to drop their rubbish wherever they like.
Burn bash and bury no longer cut it, and throwing it on the ground for the next person to hopefully clean up simply isn't good enough
