Motorhomes bring $3m boost for region's economy

Post by Kit Kat »

JUST AS the Ulysses AGM winds down at the Maryborough Showgrounds, RV lovers will take over for a motorhome rally, expected to bring millions of dollars into the Fraser Coast economy.

The week-long Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia 27th anniversary rally will see up to 2000 members stay at the showgrounds, with hundreds of volunteers to begin setting up on Wednesday.

The event will officially run from April 29-May 5.

CMCA general manager Richard Barwick said the rally would put an estimated $3 million into the community over the course of the event.

"That money will be spent in town," he said.

"Maryborough has been absolutely fantastic."

Rally manager John Hartnett, from Tinana, said organisers had made the effort to source supplies from Maryborough businesses, meaning an even bigger economic boost.
