Re: Connection Nightmares.
The next nightmare is the power cords and power packs, 12v and 240v to power up all the "B" gadgets.
Simple answer to this nightmare is : dump the lot buy a good book or talk to the navigator.
Insist on torturing your self continue on.
Remember the principle of K.I.S.S.
We need to establish what audio video connection you have, Composite, component or HDMI.
Best solution is HDMI then Component then Composite.
If you've got an analog TV HDMI is probably missing.
In any event establish what is common and settle on it for Solution A
Solution A
Buy a HDMI switch Box
Plug all devices HDMI to switch box and plug HDMI from TV to switch box. set TV to HDMI and select input device.
Solution B
Directly connect input devices to available inputs on TV
VAST SATTV STB HDMI to HDMI on TV.
DVD Player (Component) to Component on TV
etc.
Solution C
You can still take simple answer first discussed up top.
Confuse, I am

Re: Connection Nightmares.
The more I think about the worse it gets.
There are so many issues, event before we got to where do we put all this stuff and how do we power it.
In commercially built vans and MH there never is any room to fit these gadget, they give you an Analog TV and no pace to mount a STB or a DVD player, and certainly no power point for the STB.
This is how I found space in my Sterling Created a power board mounted on a cooking book stand chewing up valuable cupboard space.

Re: Connection Nightmares.
In my MH I have limited space, a mix of 240v and 12v gadgets.
The original TV and SATTV STB were 12v, the UEC VAST STB is 240v and the Replacement TV is 240v.
Bought a 12v power box for the TV, bought a Projecta 150w 12v to 240v PSW inverter.
The TV with 12 Power Box
The VAST and inverter

Re: Connection Nightmares.
You will note the TV rear space is a mess, the 240v cable is not removable, the VAST Box is HDMI, the media box is component. More work has been done to tidy up cable with velco straps.
The VAST STB sit in a cupboard next to the inverter and 12v power (cig) connection, this is alright just means you need to keep the cupboard door open when in use for air ventilation and IR control of VAST STB.

Re: Connection Nightmares.
We have a spagetti nightmare behind TV/DVD/DSTB/AND SAT BOX
240v/12v supply is all OK, would prefer all 12v
Front tv (analog does not have enough connections)
Back tv suffers signal loss probably too long coaxial run
I think the wiring/connetions could be better and maybe take a differant route
It's so complicated to explain in words...........I may have to bite the bullet and call in the cable guy

Re: Connection Nightmares.
haha
Russell may I suggest you strip all that electric wizardry out of there before you go to Victor Harbor & just wander around for 2 weeks smelling the flowers?

I'm considering one of those wireless AV sending units.
Saw the local hotel using one from their video camera during Fri night "spin the wheel" fun & games & displyed wirelessly on their GIANT TV screen above the bar. Chap videoing was walking around filming.
Using one of those may enable all gadgets to be installed elsewhere out of site.
I believe you can get one now that enables the remote to work by pointing it at the TV display.
