Good morning everyone. Happy Easter. Don't overdo the chocolate today. It was a lovely day here yesty. No rain, clear blue skies. Whatever happened to the wet Easter they forecast?
Enjoy your bacon and eggs Bernie.
We achieved nothing yesterday except a trip to the big green shed. Today I hope to finish off a wall mount for the tv. But I might have to clean the spouting if it looks like rain.
Enjoy your day everybody, safe travels.
Cheers
David

Good morning, 23c predicted 25c, no rain, slight breeze from the south, the lake looks idyllic, not many holiday makers out there this year, although the roads were very busy when I went to Bunnings at Lake Haven yesterday.

Deborah, I saw your post for the up coming craft show, your wares looked awesome all set up for sale, good idea to let local folk know about the show.

Watched the Bathurst 6 hr race, the battle between the Camero and the Mustang was the interesting bit, a lot of computer problems was the most common failure, although one did spit a turbo near the end, a few clutch failures and gear shifter failures, mostly the paddle shift type, not the gear lever shift type .... maybe hybrid cars with direct drive might be part of the field next yr in their own class ...

Dot wrote: Sat Mar 30, 2024 8:48 pm Terry, I can not believe the nonchalant attitude to your missing cat, "it may be dead due to a snake or being run over." You have a cat enclosure you were proud of and the cat liked it yet you went against the law of cats needed to be contained 24/7. and the fact you left it to fend for itself so you could go away. Not impressed at all Terry. :evil: I hope you at least go and look for his remains and bury him because he deserves that.
=================================================
Not going to get into a slinging match here but your original post sounded as if you were not too worried about puddy tat even though the prev week he had bought a baby snake home. The cat laws are meant for people to contain their animals on their property for their own safety We have next doors cat peeing on our things, harrassing our birds and upsetting Brian, their attitude was " It drives us crazy at night and we cant sleep so we let him out" well hello we don't let our cat roam peeing on other peoples things. Then you get the twats saying cats kill native animals but if they are contained how can they do that? We do not lock Brian in any cage as you well know but he is inside for his own protection at night and when we are not home. There are people that hate cats on their property and they do trap and kill the cats even shooting them and some have been killed by arrows.

Your area is "The Mid Murray" and they do suggest animals are kept on their own property and not roaming 6.4 KEEPING CATS IN THE MID MURRAY COUNCIL
Legislation clearly identifies that all cats must be microchipped, the management of nuisance cats can be difficult when
attempting to capture a cat or identify the owner of the cat that is not microchipped. Council’s Cat By-law does not restrict
the owners of cats to ensure their cats remain within the boundaries of their properties, but Council is proactive in advising
residents that keeping their cat indoors, or confined to their property, reduces the chance of their pet becoming a nuisance,
or worse still, being injured or killed by cars, dogs, or other cats.

Dottie, I don't believe in locking any animal in a cage. Only the Adelaide Hills council has a bylaw regarding cats being contained 24/7, we live in the Riverlands and no such idiot law is applied here.
================================================================================
My birds are in an avery (Cage) due to them unable to be released through injury from dog attack so cages are their safe place. No where does it say you should keep your animals in a cage and the law is a good law it protects your animal most of all.
=============================================================

I did not leave it to fend for itself, we waited 3 days for him to return, drove the streets and walked the territory he frequented, calling him all the time, but no sign. We left the auto cat feeder that has an alarm bell he knows and the auto water fountain along with Don next door, who Putin tat knows and regularly visits his cat, to keep an eye out for him and let him inside if he returned .... no sign and Don texted us each day, the cat feeder was overflowing when we got home, so he hadn't visited without being scene.
Last night and again today, I went out and searched his favourite haunts, put a message up on the local area group text group and someone replied that he was often seen in the bushes next door, so I went and searched that, still no sign .... Tried all the neighbours but being Easter, they are all away at the moment ... he is very well known in the area, if anyone has seen him they'll let us know ..I haven't given up hope, but they are fading by the day .... I'll find him and bury him out the front with Crunchy so we can say hello to them both every time we leave the driveway and again when we return home ....
================================================================

I put this pic of a found cat thinking maybe just maybe. When he comes home or you get another cat I will gladly put any cat into a carry cage for you. Might also suggest when you are talking about your animals and any probs that you explain things a bit clearer so you do not give the wrong impression. I apologize if I have upset you. Have you tried leaving his litter tray outside? If he has passed he will be under a bush, a house, car, shed. PS you used the word scene instead of seen :D

If he has passed on, I'd imagine I'll find him by smell, it has been over a week since he was last seen ....

Still to buy an inverter...thinking 1500w PSW.... :?: :?:

Good morning, 13c predicting 26c, another beautiful day, this is the best time of the year, the northerly winds that blow in thru summer cease almost & we get the sun all day on our lakefront deck, the winds are good in summer to keep the house cool.

Bernie our lakeside grass needs to be mowed, I’ve been to busy lately to work outside, Jacob 13, mowed & whipper snipped the front yard, hopefully our eldest g’son will blow in & mow lakeside, we haven’t had much rain so fortunately it isn’t real long.

Better have brekkie going kayaking with the lads this morning.

Good morning everyone. We are heading for a top of 27° with maybe a few showers today. I spent most of yesterday doing a wall mount for the tv. All the cables are now in the wall. I didn't think it would be as hot as it was up in the roof space. Lost a few kg's in sweat. Today I get to sand plaster, lucky me.
It sounds like you have the Hino under control, Bernie.
Enjoy your day on the lake with the gkids, Shirley. They all grow up too soon.
Enjoy the last day of Easter everybody, take extra care if you are out and about.
Cheers
David

What model/make fridge did you buy Bernie?
Is it an inverter compressor drive fridge Bernie? Important to know because a normal type 240vac fridge can used up to 10 times the run current every time it starts up, so you need an inverter with enough capacity to cover that, just for the fridge, and every time the compressor starts up it takes a chunk out of your battery capacity.
An inverter fridge spins the compressor slowly at the start and builds up speed before it actually starts pumping by using a device that will isolate the compressor from the system pressure so there is never a "locked current" draw .... this is where the piston stopped on a compression stroke and this has to be pushed through TDC while the motor is dragging big current trying to get up to full speed ... this is where the 10 times run current happens ......

Next thing, you need to look for an inverter with minimal stand by current. The fridge will always draw some power so the inverter will never go into eco mode so the standby current will always be there draining the battery, even if nothing else is switched on.

That is the second biggest difference between the cheap evilbay inverters and quality brand inverters, how long they last, how much over current that can handle for how long and price battle it out for first place as far as the differences .... basically, if the sales line claims a peak twice the value of the run output, it is a con wrapped in B/S and the true run output is less than 80% of the claimed run output ....
I could go through explaining why, but most haven't read this far so ...... ;) :lol:
