Terry, I can not believe the nonchalant attitude to your missing cat, "it may be dead due to a snake or being run over." You have a cat enclosure you were proud of and the cat liked it yet you went against the law of cats needed to be contained 24/7. and the fact you left it to fend for itself so you could go away. Not impressed at all Terry.

I hope you at least go and look for his remains and bury him because he deserves that.

Not going to get into a slinging match here but your original post sounded as if you were not too worried about puddy tat even though the prev week he had bought a baby snake home. The cat laws are meant for people to contain their animals on their property for their own safety We have next doors cat peeing on our things, harrassing our birds and upsetting Brian, their attitude was " It drives us crazy at night and we cant sleep so we let him out" well hello we don't let our cat roam peeing on other peoples things. Then you get the twats saying cats kill native animals but if they are contained how can they do that? We do not lock Brian in any cage as you well know but he is inside for his own protection at night and when we are not home. There are people that hate cats on their property and they do trap and kill the cats even shooting them and some have been killed by arrows.
Your area is "The Mid Murray" and they do suggest animals are kept on their own property and not roaming 6.4 KEEPING CATS IN THE MID MURRAY COUNCIL
Legislation clearly identifies that all cats must be microchipped, the management of nuisance cats can be difficult when
attempting to capture a cat or identify the owner of the cat that is not microchipped. Council’s Cat By-law does not restrict
the owners of cats to ensure their cats remain within the boundaries of their properties, but Council is proactive in advising
residents that keeping their cat indoors, or confined to their property, reduces the chance of their pet becoming a nuisance,
or worse still, being injured or killed by cars, dogs, or other cats.
Dottie, I don't believe in locking any animal in a cage. Only the Adelaide Hills council has a bylaw regarding cats being contained 24/7, we live in the Riverlands and no such idiot law is applied here.

My birds are in an avery (Cage) due to them unable to be released through injury from dog attack so cages are their safe place. No where does it say you should keep your animals in a cage and the law is a good law it protects your animal most of all.

I did not leave it to fend for itself, we waited 3 days for him to return, drove the streets and walked the territory he frequented, calling him all the time, but no sign. We left the auto cat feeder that has an alarm bell he knows and the auto water fountain along with Don next door, who Putin tat knows and regularly visits his cat, to keep an eye out for him and let him inside if he returned .... no sign and Don texted us each day, the cat feeder was overflowing when we got home, so he hadn't visited without being scene.
Last night and again today, I went out and searched his favourite haunts, put a message up on the local area group text group and someone replied that he was often seen in the bushes next door, so I went and searched that, still no sign .... Tried all the neighbours but being Easter, they are all away at the moment ... he is very well known in the area, if anyone has seen him they'll let us know ..I haven't given up hope, but they are fading by the day .... I'll find him and bury him out the front with Crunchy so we can say hello to them both every time we leave the driveway and again when we return home ....

I put this pic of a found cat thinking maybe just maybe. When he comes home or you get another cat I will gladly put any cat into a carry cage for you. Might also suggest when you are talking about your animals and any probs that you explain things a bit clearer so you do not give the wrong impression. I apologize if I have upset you. Have you tried leaving his litter tray outside? If he has passed he will be under a bush, a house, car, shed. PS you used the word scene instead of seen
